OK enough...
These are OK enough. I almost bought a holster to go with them (bought the matching pepper mill also), but decided that would be over the top for my cooking style. I guess they just don't fit my small (Size 5-6 hands) as comfortable as Oxo. They seem to work alright, though the grind for salt or pepper is just too fine to suit my taste and never seems to get course enough for my no matter how far the grinder is adjusted. From Unicorn Peppermills by Tom David, Inc.: "This is the salt grinder version of the Keytop, with a long wearing, non corroding ceramic grinding mechanism. Be sure to use dry, brittle salt with a grain size no larger than a peppercorn. We recommend using Coarse Sea Salt. Please keep in mind most Grey, Pink, Celtic and Himalayan salts are not fully dried and can cause problems if used in salt grinders. They tend to be "moist" or "damp" salts and clog/gum up the teeth of the grinding mechanism. We strongly recommend using dry, brittle salt such as coarse sea salt (crystal size is approximately the size of a peppercorn).•For grinding coarse salt•Fast grinding, non-corroding and long wearing ceramic mechanism•Easy filling with sliding loading ring•Adjustable grind size with thumb screw on bottom•Holds grind size even whe filling•Clean exterior with window cleaner and paper towel"

Perfect in every way!
This little grinder is a GEM!! And just what we've been needing for an organic salt blend that comes with its' own grinder on top, and ALWAYS breaks. I looked at several others, and read reviews, and took a chance on this one. It is SIMPLE to fill, and operate, and seems sturdy. Great price, and great purchase. It is maybe 5" tall, without measuring, so for us just the right size for salt. Would do just fine for plain coarse salt too, but we do love this pink blend with herbs etc. we've been using a few yrs now, but breaking the bottle top every single time. And a regular pepper mill just wouldn't grind the herbs or salt right.

Very nice salt mill
After using the black pepper mill for a couple years, I decided it was time to try the salt mill--and we're quite pleased with it. Easy to fill, easy to use. We keep both mills in a small plastic container without a lid (it's one of those small rectangular "Lock n lock" containers) both to transport from one side of the kitchen to the other and also to collect the salt and pepper that come out of the bottom. You definitely wouldn't want to keep this on a table without something under it or you'll be wiping away salt grains all the time.

+Easy twist; -no serving tray
Great mechanism--even easier to twist than the original barrel-twist pepper grinder from Unicorn. Simple to fill, simple to adjust, simple to use. Perfect. I do wish it came with a serving tray, like the 6" magnum pepper grinder, as it does shake a bit of extra ground salt from the milling teeth every time you set it down. If it came with that tray, it'd be 5-star! Since it is 2" OD, a white, PVC pipe cap may do the trick.

Great unit until the bottom blade holder broke. <1year
It works very well except that the bottom stationary components have broken, and then needed to be re-glued several times during its first year of home-kitchen use.The key-top is a great idea as it is a secure way to apply the heavy torque needed for salt. The ceramic grinding assembly at the bottom takes a lot of torque to grind pink Himalayan rock salt, and this assembly, that is held together with plastic, has broken several times where the stationary ceramic blades are held in place with plastic.

GREAT!.. but not without flaws!
Love the ceramic grinder. I have had other salt grinders before (not Unicorn) that were steel and rotted out. I like Unicorn products a lot but these feel 'cheap' in the hands.Perhaps a heavier plastic would solve that. It would also be nice if the twist for the loading hole had a lock. Otherwise VERY happy with this along the with matching pepper grinder I ordered.

Love it
I had bought the pepper mill some time back and love it. Have bought these now as gifts, since I believe these are the best grinders on the market- just the right size and very easy to use. good construction and feel. I recently decided to grind my salt also, so bought this matching pair and love it. It is deceiving in taht it moves so easily compared to grinding pepper taht at first I thougt it wasnt working. The grind was set fine and I could not see it as it fell. However I ground a little on the counertop and it workd fine- it was jsut difficult to see on the food. I adjusted the grind this way and am very happy with the results.

Each twist gives you a consistant grind, and yield
I already have a Unicorn 9” Magnum Pepper mill, the best pepper mill I have ever owned. MyLess then satisfactory Peugeot salt mill with it’s Stainless steel burrs finally corroded away. I like the Unicorn Pepper mill because of it’s consistent grind and yield. The 6” Keytop Salt Mill with it’s ceramic mill I like for the same reason consistant grind, and yield.I get my salt from Salt Works and their meduim course grain Himalayan Pink salt works great in the Unicorn salt mill. The photo above is 3 twists.
