My son has always wanted to go fishing with his grandfather but unfortunately blast year was a washout with the pandemic putting significant barriers bin the way. Hopefully, with restrictions easing he will be able to join his grandfather out next month for his first experience. Grandfather advised to order this beginners fishing rod set. He said that it has everything he'll need to start with and more. Actually, he got me to buy it but paid for it himself because he is looking forward to spending some time with his grandson. They have opened the kit and my son has been given a quite rundown of the basics already. The rod is well made and good quality. The case that it comes with is great for storage.

The kit only arrived this morning, it looks ok for what I need. I only need it on holiday in our motorhome when parked near the sea, so it will serve my purposes. The case is good, and everything inside it is compact, so great for travelling with me in the camper. The reel handle is not as shown on Amazon i.e. it does not have the wood effect, it is just black, apart from this I am satisfied with it. I will write another review once I have used it and tested out it's capabilities and whether or not anything breaks easily.

I like the compact carry bag and the versatility of the rod, I have used it for float fishing on the local river.

Obviously a gamble buying a fishing rod off amazon but there were convincing positive reviews. This is a great idea as its so compact and comes in a neat case, but it's cheap in design and not sturdy at all. The hoops have all bent easily and the glue holding several of them in place has failed on first use (see example photo showing one of them). The rod also wouldn't collapse and we spent several frustrated hours getting it back in the case. I will be returning this item on my return from holiday for a full refund and would urge anyone reading this not to waste their hard earned money. Go and buy a decent sea fishing rod from your local angling shop. This is a complete and utter waste of money and will leave you feeling angry at the seller for pushing such rubbish and putting you through the hassle of the return process.

Really nice rod, seems and feels quite strong and comes with everything you need to do the odd bit of fishing. Seller is very reasonable and responsive. Handle itself is a bit short for my liking but doesn't make much difference. Fits in a normal size rucksack easy enough if you don't want to carry the case around with you. Definitely recommend!
