I am satisfied with Anker products so far since they do what ...
This is my 2nd Anker external charger (my daughter took my first one) and maybe my 3rd Anker product overall since I have the 5-port USB charging hub. I am satisfied with Anker products so far since they do what they're supposed to do. One thing I'm not so sure about this charger is that the unit I have often requires a push of the meter/flashlight button for the charger to start charging. Is this normal behavior?Update: Anker sent me a replacement one that also worked the same way, and were very helpful with troubleshooting. From my previous Anker external battery purchase (which senses motion of the battery to wake from idle), I habitually leave my charging cable plugged in and just plug into my phone whenever I need to charge. This battery is different in that the button (or plugging in a cable) is used to wake from idle, and only then will charging begin. I'm OK with this operation now that I understand it.

A great battery pack that will charge even the most power demanding devices!
Anker is my new trusted battery/charger brand. Everything that I have ever bought from them has worked perfectly. There are a lot of products out there that claim to have a certain wattage or amperage and often times they don't live up to it. I have bought several of their chargers and battery packs and they have all delivered. I have a several devices that require higher amperage to charge in a decent amount of time. This battery pack just delivers. It charges my iphone 6 plus and note 4 without an issues. It even keeps up with my HP chromebook 11, which is notorious for not playing nicely with other under powered chargers. 13000mAh means that you get to charge it once and use it many times before you need to charge it again. When I am at a conference and I need to charge my phones this charge comes in handy, especially since i use my note 4 as a wireless hotspot often.

Filled the need and delivered beyond expectations
It's amazing how much storage this unit has and how long the system holds a charge. It's also amazing how the system senses the type of device you've plugged in and delivers the maximum charge rate to it. My Son plugged in his Galaxy S4 today and was amazed how much it had charged by having it plugged in only a short time.I bought this because I am a long-distance road cyclist and my Note 3 cannot hold a charge for the full 100+ miles that I travel in a ride. In fact, I run GPS tracking Apps while I ride - along with needing the phone and camera - and the Note 3, even with it's huge battery, was dying at about 70 miles. With this AnkerĀ® 2nd Gen Astro E4 13000mAh Portable External Battery Charger, I'll never have to worry about that again. In fact, I have enough battery to keep the phones charged for my riding buddies too! Also, and perhaps furthering the value of the Anker/Amazon partnership as a mechanism for purchase, pricing was more than fair and with Amazon Prime, I received guaranteed two-day shipping for my Anker device at no extra charge! After the purchase, Anker themselves sent me an email asking how my purchase experience went and how I was enjoying the device. Awesome Customer Service all the way around!I know sometimes when I read these reviews, I say to myself, "wow, this person must work for them" haha. I can assure you, I am a real person and I'm enjoying real results from my purchase.Advice - whichever Anker charging device you choose, definitely purchase the Anker 2A wall adapter that can be purchased as included with it, and add the Anker car adapter. They are matched components and worth the extra investment to assure the most efficient charging of your Anker device.BTW - I'm a 54yo Husband & Father and I wrote this November 16, 2014Five stars and thank you Anker & Amazon - most excellent!!

Works well but serious flaw
I bought this for use when travelling and so far have been happy with it. The cost is good when you consider the mAh, and the weight is reasonable considering this. The powerIQ feature allows you to connect to either of the ports so you don't have to figure out which is right for your devise (especially helpful if you are travelling and in a low-light setting like a plane at night). I personally don't find the flashlight feature useful and can be annoying when it turns on if you hold down the power button too long.A few issues of note:The power switch is a big problem:1) It is elevated above the level of the body of the battery and can easily get activated accidentally. I consider this a big problem because portable batteries have been known to spontaneously overheat and there was a recent issue on a flight when a bag caught fire as a result. Airlines are starting to set limits on portable batteries, and so the power switch seems like a hazard and a serious design flaw.2) As far as I can tell from the instructions, the only way to turn it off is by unplugging any USBs and waiting for it to turn itself off (the instructions say nothing about this and by trial and error, all I've managed to do is activate the silly flashlight, but I have not spent much time on this).3) Due to my concern about the power switch, I do not want to carry it in the cloth bag provided and have continued to use the box, which makes it bulky for travel. Until I find a way to manage the on switch this is not convenient and may stop using it.

If you've a lot of stuff to charge or are going to be away from power for a while I'd get the E7 but if your just looking to cov
This is perhaps the handiest device I have run across in a while. Big enough to last me almost 3 days without needing to find a outlet or DC port, charging just about everything under the sun. The only thing I haven't been able to charge is a portable speaker I bought from a truck stop. A Roqbox, I think. Plugging it in turns on the speaker's try me function. Apparently, the speaker does not conform to the standrad usb protocols. Not Akers fault. I think buying electronics from more reputable companies would prevent that. But cellphones, headsets, a Hotspot, and a tablet all charged without a hitch. It does take a while to charge, but a 2 amp charge block or USB plug speeds up charging the battery significantly. The question you should be asking is not whether or not to get one. But rather which size battery to get.If you've a lot of stuff to charge or are going to be away from power for a while I'd get the E7 but if your just looking to cover yourself for a day or two the E4 is the perfect match.
