Batteries in a box.
These batteries come loose in a cardboard box with some plastic separators. I saw no sign of an expiration date which isn't good. These apparently come from China judging by some printing I saw. I don't yet how good the batteries are.

Sony does it right
Great aa batteries. I use them for household appliances and my camera flash units. Came fully charged, also have a charging unit to reuse them over n over again. No complaints
