Greek Pine Honey a delightfully speciality Greek honey harvested from pine trees and thyme bushes that coexist in the Cretan ecosystem. A unique type of pine honey, whose distinctive flavour has been famous in Crete ever since the Minoan era. Our Cretan honey is collected early in September and is characterised by the dark amber colour, the rich aroma and the intense taste. It is rich in minerals and proteins and does not granulate easily. Pine honey is a perfect choice for your al teas and smoothies and a delicious drizzle for puffs, cakes, toasted bread, crepes. Meligyris Cretan Apiary we continue a long bee farming heritage that dates back to 1920 holding dear to traditional beekeeping methods, producing pure honey. Our hives are spread across the island of Crete and give us a wide range of varietal honey featuring the depth and diversity of the Cretan wild flora. Traditional methods of extraction and collection are used to ensure that the enzymes, protein and natural goodness of honey stay within. All our honey is, unfiltered, unheated and unpasteurised, preserving all the natural benefits as well as the distinctive aromas and taste of pure Cretan honey. The unique characteristics of Meligyris honey are strongly connected to the unique ecosystem of the island, the ainous terrain of Crete, the flora (rare wild s and brushwood) and the micro-climate (altitude, sea breeze, warm dry climatic conditions). Crystallisation and Honey is a natural process of pure honey and does not affect its tional value. Some honeys crystallise uniformly, while others crystallise partially in the jar. To turn a jar of crystallised unheated honey a liquid state, simply place it over a warm water bath of 40C for about 15 minutes.
