Excellence in every aspect.
I've been looking for a good pair of speakers to listen to music to, or maybe occasionally attach to my PC to be used as computer speakers when playing a really fun and immersive video game. I primarily just wanted something that sounded far more balanced than my JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth speaker. I also have a multi-media player that has terrible speakers, so I wanted to have something hooked up to that as well, in case I want to listen to old albums or cassettes. So far, I've been extremely impressed. Before I dive any further into this, please note that I am NOT an audiophile, and I understand full well that true audiophiles will probably have a lot of disagreements with my take on these speakers. I'm just a guy who wants decent, well-balanced sound that isn't as bass-heavy as a JBL Bluetooth speaker is.PROSBluetooth connectivity. I keep a ton of music on my phone, so being able to connect wirelessly to my speakers is important to me. I have a Pixel 6 phone, and it connects to Bluetooth without any issues. It also doesn't drop signal at all (at least not yet) and still maintains great sound quality for Bluetooth. I can also connect them to my PC via Bluetooth as well, but that actually doesn't seem to hold as well, but I attribute that to my PC needing a new Bluetooth adapter, since as stated before, the speakers stay connected just fine to my phone. The optical and RCA audio cables offer more input options as well. I have my multi-media player plugged in via RCA cable, and if I ever want to use these as computer speakers, I can hook them up to my PC via the optical cable. I can even hook these up to my TV if I so choose with the optical cable, so there is a lot of versatility to these speakers. Another thing to note, these come with an optical cable, a decent length of speaker wire, and a set of RCA stereo cables. I was expecting to have to go and purchase these as most higher-end speakers don't come with these cables, but these speakers do.The functionality is easier than expected. There are three dials on the side of the powered speaker: bass, treble, and volume. The volume button also acts as the power button and function button. So far, I've used mine in Bluetooth and RCA input, but have been highly satisfactory. The RCA a bit less so, but I suspect that's more to do with my multi-media player than the speakers themselves. The sound quality is extremely pleasing. I took them for an initial test spin with some Billy Joel and Warren Zevon to get a feel for how these sound with classic rock. The sound was incredibly well rounded, crisp, and well-defined. I then took them for a bit of a stress test by cranking them up with some Knocked Loose and old Bleeding Through albums, and was still incredibly impressed. The bass was responsive but not overpowering at all, and I could hear every instrument as well defined as if I was wearing studio monitors, but with far more depth. As stated before, I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I still can recognize better sounding speakers, and these are definitely better sounding. I've had PreSonos speakers that cost a good deal more than these before, and I am far more impressed with these speakers that I was with the PreSonos.Overall, I am incredibly impressed with these speakers. I find the Bluetooth connectivity to be solid, the functions easy to use, and the sound quality superior to most of the speakers in this class, and certainly an incredible value, as many speakers with this level of quality can easily exceed $350. I would recommend these to anyone who's looking to add great sound to their office, family room, game room, or wherever you need a great set of speakers. I would certainly order these again without hesitation.

Way better than a soundbar.
If you're looking for speakers to use for music and/or with your tv that have quality sound without breaking the bank, these are an excellent choice. I had heard that Edifier made good inexpensive speakers but boy was I surprised...Compared to TV speakers or a cheap soundbar the sound is so much fuller, it is a night and day difference. The midrange and treble is great, and the bass surprised me. The 1280 can put out a bit of boom! Not as deep and loud as having a subwoofer (though there is a version that lets you connect a sub), but still WAY better than TV speakers or a soundbar. Great for gaming!Speaking of soundbars... If you're thinking of buying a soundbar for your TV, stop now and just get these! There is no way in heck you're going to find a soundbar that sounds as great as these in the realm of $100-200. You'd have to spend beyond $300-400 to get a soundbar that equal or surpass these in sound. You should only consider a soundbar if you literally have no space around your TV to set these up.And speaking of setup, it is easy. These are self-powered speakers so all you have to do is plug the power in, then connect them to your device and you're ready. I have the "DB" version which supports optical input as well as bluetooth. If you want to use it with your TV I highly recommend getting the DB version so you can use an optical cable.

Good (not great) sound, compact, sturdy, functional
Others have complained about these speakers and I'll address those complaints first.Bluetooth works well with my ~4 year old Moto X Pure Android phone. My only complaint about Bluetooth on these speakers is that I wish that it was "always on" and would auto-switch to the BT input whenever something connected, and would switch back to the last input when disconnected. Instead, you have to manually select the input on the chintzy little remote. I am not sure about the specs but it may support aptX because latencies were very low when watching things on my phone.I have had no problem with low gain. I control the volume to my TV's audio line output using my TV remote, and it's easy to adjust both the speaker audio level and the TV line out to be quite loud without getting anywhere near the maximum setting of either, leaving a lot of headroom if I want the speakers to be exceptionally loud and easily avoiding any sort of clipping or distortion.I cannot possibly imagine a normal and compact soundbar of similar price would sound any better. Those tend to have even smaller loudspeakers in them, and you can't really gang up parallel speakers without causing nasty interference patterns. The different frequency ranges seem reasonable in accuracy. If you want a "colorful" speaker, get a Bose or one of the other countless brands that try to impress people with accentuated mid or low ranges. Personally I respect a speaker with a relatively flat response. I'm also not shocked that these have poor bass reproduction. The woofer is small and has to drive a wide frequency range. If you buy these expecting a lot of bass, you are delusional. If you are desperate for tons of bass, get a big and more expensive 3-way speaker or a supplemental subwoofer.I have never once in my life desired a remote-controlled bass/treble control. The fact that these speakers have convenient knobs for both on this price class is pretty good to begin with. Generally, I find a setting I like (usually in the center or near to it) and leave it there forever.Yes, these are not powerful overall. They are loud enough for my family room. They are much more than adequate for a computer system. If you are looking for a booming home stereo system, why are you buying bookshelf monitors? As for my own pros/cons, I'd say that they don't sound amazing. They sound quite good, much better than the built-in speakers on my TV, and much better than an old 2.1 Altec Lansing system I still had from the early 2000s. They do not sound as good as my giant Denon amp combined with a nice and big 3-way passive speaker setup. I can't put my finger on where the deficiency is in their quality is, but it's just a little off somehow. It probably has to do with the smallish woofer having to reproduce so many frequencies at once. But again, it's pretty good, and these are inexpensive for a pair of powered monitors. They are compact and attractive. I am sick of having passive speakers with a separate amp/receiver, so just being able to route the TV directly to the speakers and have that be the end of it is very enticing. It saves a lot of space and look nice and neat. The remote is tiny and feels like it's going to break apart in my hand. The input jacks are not really recessed so if you are planning on placing the speakers on a ledge against a wall, you may want to get L-shaped connectors or else the right speaker will need to sit an inch or more forward from the wall. The analog and digital inputs are nice and it's easy to switch between them with the remote, assuming you don't lose it.Thus far, it's about what I expected for the price, which was about $130 at the time of this writing. With this feature set, form factor and price point, I feel like there isn't much to complain about. If they break down, or blow out, or feature stop working, or anything like that, I'll come back to amend my review.

Great speakers! Buy them!
First, I am a newbie audiophile of playing old albums. I bought these for the convenience of being able to move them if I want to. I think they sound absolutely fantastic! I love being able to adjust the base, treble, loudness, etc. I was up and running on bluetooth connection with my Sony turntable in 5 minutes. In no time I was up and playing old jazz albums! NO REGRETS!!
