Great Openers - But Temperamental
This isn't my first time upgrading to jackshaft openers. But there are some things that are good to know before installation. You will likely need to move electrical to get an outlet close to the door. You will need to find a way to run the wires for the obstruction sensors and wall button. These 2 things will take longer than the opener install will. Have a Plan.It might be a good idea to install a surge-protected outlet. These openers are expensive and a surge killed the overhead openers we replaced with these. A replacement outlet is cheaper than a replacement 8500W.These openers have a cable tension monitor that is designed to prevent the opener from slacking the cable to jump off the spool. When the door is in the up position, if there is not enough weight or the rollers do not move freely enough to let the door drop or the door is not level on the track; the opener will twist the shaft to let the door down, the door stays there, making slack in the cable and tripping the monitor, preventing the door from closing. In the adjustment phase, if you set the upper travel limit too high, there will not be enough weight to pull the door down via gravity. This caused my cable to jump the spool when trying to set the lower travel limit by letting the door down.I had to adjust the track on 1 of my doors because it tilted slightly down toward the inside, so the little weight on the front of the track wasn't enough to pull the door down by gravity (and tripping the cable monitor). My larger door's rollers were creating excess friction, and stalling the door on its way down, causing the cable monitor to trip, I fixed this by upgrading to bearing nylon rollers and have not has a single issue since.Despite the quirks, when you get them dialed in, they are very nice. They are quiet, and the garage looks so much cleaner not having openers overhead.

Best garage door opener on the market. Freed up a lot of headroom where the old openers were.
Best garage door opener on the market. I was a little apprehensive about installing these myself but I'm an all-in sort of guy. I bought these fully understanding what I was getting into and knew out of the gate that I would need the Liftmaster MODEL 480LM RJO 3800 Alternate Mounting/Extension Kit for each one. In fact, the alternate kit was crucial to my being able to install it.I ended up having to mount these about 20" above the spring/torsion rod because I just had no other option. I reinforced the wall with some OSB board and mounted the units directly to that. I also wasn't crazy about the fact there wasn't any real mounting hardware available except for one small bracket so I had to fabricate some brackets out of aluminum.Fortunately the old opener was shot so I used the chain from that to make the custom fitted chain for the spring/torsion rod mounting kit which worked perfectly. I picked up a bicycle chain repair/splicing kit that was exactly what I needed and managed to fit the chains as needed. The wall control units were a direct swap out, had no issues there.Overall, I discovered that this is fairly straight forward but its imperative that you balance your garage door before you start. That actually hung me up a bit because the doors, originally installed by our builder, weren't balanced and the installers depended on the opener's connection to ensure the door closes. I spent several days playing around with the door balance and adjusting the spring/torsion bar to get it to finally work properly. I also had some challenges with the cable slack control arm as the door would hang slightly on the initial way down creating enough slack to reverse the motor. After lots of WD-40, adjustments to the door and the track, I finally got it to stop reversing within the first foot down.

Great Garage Door Opener
I was skeptical about installing the unit (I installed two). After watching a few videos, I tackled the project. The first unit took a little longer than anticipated. The unit has a bracket that attaches to the wall that was NOT tapped from the factory. Nor did it include the small screws. Also, the anchors provided were not sufficient enough to hold the unit. So, I used toggle anchors (best in the business). The unit is ROCK solid and operates perfectly. And finally, one unit had to have an electrical outlet installed close by (I did it myself). A mere tap off the old electrical box made the job easy. However, having access to the attic made the work a piece of cake. Both unites operate perfectly...the most time consuming part was tacking up the wires for the door sensor and remote lock. Very satisfied with the product - let's hope it lasts. Oh, now the ceiling is clean without the traditional door opener...nice clean look. The LED remote lights are very bright and again, make the ceiling look great. Would buy again.

Not your typical ugly garage door opener hanging from the ceiling.
Remotes seem cheap, but work.Quiet and strong.Wish you could add more lights to system to turn on automatically with motion or door opening.Need more wire for the buttons if your garage is larger than a one car. But, I'd get them again for sure.

THE BEST!
Use on 2 12x8 doors. Only complaint is maybe too quiet!!!! I lock the automatic lock and smoothness of the door. Cool smart features and slow start and slow stop! SUPER QUIET!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Excellent door opener!
Instructions were straight forward, and easy to follow. It took me 3 hours from start to finish to install one opener. I will be installing the second next weekend. The opener works perfectly, and is very quiet.

Genius!
Watched a couple YouTube videos on installation and thought it was too good to be true, but it's not. VERY easy with two people, but I had no trouble completing the second door installation alone. Units are a little heavy, so getting a hand with the initial hanging is best, but they are so quiet, have none of the overhead garage (chains, belts, drives) to deal with and the locking mechanism is awesome! Oh yeah, battery backup, MYQ enabled, etc... etc... You won't be disappointed, ESPECIALLY if you're dealing with new construction or first opener.
