Pretty good scaling, excellent conversion, fine with HDCP
This robust, metal-cased device is a combined converter and scaler, taking a HDMI input and converting to component video plus stereo audio, in a choice of resolutions to suit your display.Windows detects it as a "HDMI 4K DEV", capable of the following resolutions natively:-* 1600x1200 60Hz* 1920x1080 50i/50p/59.94i/59.94p/60i/60p* 3840x2160 29.97/30/50/59.94/60Hz* 4096x2160 50/59.94/60Hzplus the following resolutions, upscaled by the computer to 1920x1080:-* 640x480 50/59.94/60Hz* 720x480 50i/50p/59.94i/59.94p/60i/60p* 720x576 50i/50p/59.94p/60p* 800x600 50/59.94/60/60.317Hz (60.317Hz not upscaled)* 1024x768 50/59.94/60/60.004Hz (60.004Hz not upscaled)* 1152x864 50/59.94/60/75Hz (75Hz upscales to 1440x900 but displays a test card instead)* 1280x600 50/59.94/60Hz* 1280x720 50/59.94/60Hz* 1280x768 50/59.94/60Hz* 1280x800 50/59.81/59.94/60Hz (59.81Hz not upscaled)* 1280x960 50/59.94/60Hz* 1280x1024 50/59.94/60/60.02Hz (59.81Hz not upscaled)* 1360x768 50/59.94/60Hz* 1366x768 50/59.94/60Hz* 1400x1050 50/59.94/60Hz* 1440x900 50/59.888/59.94/60/75Hz (59.888Hz not upscaled, 75Hz displays a test card instead)* 1600x900 50/59.94/60Hz* 1680x1050 50/59.94/59.954/60Hz (59.954Hz not upscaled)My MacBook Pro detects it (through a miniDP to HDMI adaptor) as a "HDMI 4K DEV" 55 inch screen. In "default for display" mode it just does its own thing and runs it at 1920x1080, but switching to Scaled mode gives the following options:-* 720p 50/60Hz* 1080i 50/60Hz* 1080p 50/60Hz* 1600x900 60Hz* 3840x2160 30HzThe resolution button steps through the following output resolutions, in order:-* 480i 60Hz* 576i 50Hz* 480p 60Hz* 576p 50Hz* 720p 60Hz* 1080i 60Hz* 1080p 60HzThe zoom button chooses between six different zoom amounts, similar to the "overscan" setting on some TVs, and one of the zooms is no zoom at all so (as long as your display isn't overscanning) every pixel will wind up on the screen.Picture quality is good and it does a pretty good job of scaling the input signal up or down in most cases (1080i from the MacBook being a notable exception), and if the signal is absent or unsupported it throws up the standard EBU colour bar test card.A good point is that it doesn't seem to care about HDCP up to version 1.4, and happily scales whatever's thrown at it without causing the source device to throw errors. The included power supply is a 5 volt, 1 amp unit of reasonable quality; not the best I've seen but certainly not the worst. I'd have preferred the unit to have come with a USB cable for power instead, but it works. The only niggle really is that the unit comes with no rubber feet; you'll want to pick up a set to stop it scratching about.

Converting HDMI to component input.
Very easy to connect to a TV and any sort of input. I’m using it with an Apple TV+ for testing purposes. The connecting was easy, the fiddling around with the finer points was not.First off I couldn’t get any sound but by trial and error removing the white cable sorted the problem and i had sound. The pictures aren’t very clear, so not a good example, but the first one is a connection via HDMI, the second is via this box.The scaling feature didn’t work and with it I just got a blank screen.Using this box the picture was crisper and easier on the eye so while connecting it did not produce a ‘wow’ factor is has made viewing slightly more enjoyable.Whether it’s worth the cost depends on what you want to connect to it.A game machine, media player or Fire Stick maybe, but something that already connects via HDMI then probably not.

Effective Converter of HDMI digital to Component Video & Stereo Audio
This MISOTT HDMI to component video converter comes with 5 volt mains power adapter, and small instruction book. The converter itself looks great, appears of excellent quality, with clear screen printing. The unit’s casing feels metallic. The included power adapter supplies the required 5 volts, but only has a short lead (approx. 0.5 M). Would have preferred a USB lead power option, which can often be connected direct to TV or associated equipment, rather than to mains - but no big issue. The small instruction book provides clear instructions for use, together with useful specification information. It is important to note that this converter only converts signals from HDMI to component. This would be useful if you require to connect a modern HDMI Blu-ray player to an older television or projector lacking HDMI but having a component input (Three video RCA plugs Red, Green, and Blue plus audio or as another connecting option when you run out of HDMI inputs.Component Video enables High Definition up to 1080P, but not Ultra HD formats such as 4K or 8K. Also, audio connection would either be via Stereo RCA (Left & Right), which this converter efficiently facilitates, or using a separate digital audio connection if available for surround sound formats. The MISOTT converter box was tested for this review by connecting a Sky Q Box HDMI output to the component inputs of a Sansui Smart HD television. Picture clarity through this converter appeared flawless, with true HD resolution and colour hues indistinguishable from a direct HDMI connection. Sound quality was file, albeit analogue stereo only. The front LED red on light was a on the bright side, but can be quite easily masking taped over if distracting. The resolution switches worked well to change resolution and scaling as required, albeit in the absence of a remote control needs to be manually set according to source resolution and input resolution capability of unit outputting to.Overall, this MISOTT converter is a niche product that does the job of converting HDMI to quality component video together with stereo audio, efficiently.

A consumer converter I like
Most consumer converters unlike their SDI and broadcast grade counterpart are generally utterly worthless. This unit however has downscaling built-in so you can feed it any standard signal assuming it's formatted correctly for 4:3 or 16:9 and it will happily play on your standard video monitor or CRT at the appropriate resolution.PAL 720x576i25NTSC 720x480i29.97And Full HD 1080i/1080p modesA seriously good quality plug and play converter for consumer use.
