solid, stable platform with smooth panning
solid and smooth. affixed to the flat plate on my GT3543LS tripod, it pans smoothly and is just as stable with accessories onboard as if they were mounted directly to the flat plate. the knob is large enough to grip easily to lock and unlock while being unobtrusive. the spirit level is large and easy to view with any of my heads installed. there are 2x 3/8" to 1/4" bushing adapters stored thoughtfully and discreetly on the underside. a really nice touch is the use of 2 pointers on the base, in case one's view is obstructed and also the ability to zero the graduated marks independently of the panning base itself, taking the admittedly grade school level math out of the motion, allowing you to focus fully on the act of panning from one mark to the other.
