Worth it!
We love our tea kettle! It is available through multiple stores, and we initially bought it through Sur La Table’s website because it was cheaper, but 2 weeks later and they cancelled our order without even notifying us. I didn’t want to go through that again so when I found it on Amazon, I immediately ordered it. It came in two days and now we’ve had it for well over a month! It is easy to use and I love that you can hold it on a certain temp to keep it warm for up to an hr! Ours is made of glass and stainless steel, but is not fragile, it’s actually very sturdy and the gooseneck pour is so lovely to prevent a mess from happening and looks so elegant. Well worth the money to us!

Beautiful and functional - the best I've ever had!
I took the plunge and bought this not-inexpensive electric kettle after I saw it at a friend's. It is simply the best electric kettle I've ever had or seen. I love that I can set the exact temperature I want - very useful for things like getting water to the right temperature for yeast breads, for example. It's intuitive and easy to use. It cleans very easily. And it is just beautiful to look at. For me that's a big factor. If I'm going to have stuff out on my counter, then I want to enjoy looking at it. Wow!!!

Good looks, slight usability downgrade from steel
I had the comparable stainless steel kettle by Bonavita which is what I'll compare this to.The thing I like more about this one is the looks. But as far as being an actual kettle goes, I think it's SLIGHTLY worse.I didn't do any scientific testing, but I feel like this one loses its temperature a little bit faster compared to the steel version. Was a little annoying at first, but Ive figured out my routine when making coffee to work with that fact.Other thing is the handle is a little less ergonomic compared to the steel. This is less of an issue for me.I got this on sale so I'm happy with the purchase. If they are the same price I'd go for the steel version every time. Usability on the glass is a slight downgrade--so it comes down to how much you care about the looks, and how much cheaper you can get it for.

Manufacturing flaws in the top rim of the glass can lead to leaks and safety issues.
Update:Knocking another star off. After only using this for a couple of days, I have concerns about its safety from an electrical standpoint.Even though this is a lower-wattage kettle than others I've used recently, there seems to be a significant surge every time the heater kicks on. It's enough to make lights in the room flicker (this is not an old house, and wiring was recently checked for this circuit when it was moved to a new sub-panel). Even though a previous kettle had an electrical issue of its own, it never did this. The big issue here is that when you set this kettle to hold your temperature, that heater kicks on and off frequently. As in every 1-to-3 seconds. Every time it does, there's a loud *click.* This incessant clicking gives off some major Tell-tale Heart vibes that could drive anyone mad if they had to listen to it for the 60 minutes this feature can supposedly work. My ears can't handle it for a single minute straight. I have to imagine there's an electrical problem causing this constant on-off clicking and that this wasn't by design. I'll reach out to the manufacturer I suppose, but if you're looking for a quiet kettle, keep this in mind. Quiet to boil is pointless if you want your water kept warm on this Bonavita. Also, after repeated use, I'm not feeling any more confident in the handle. It feels secure enough if you put 1L or less in it. But if you fill it to the 1.3L max, the kettle *will* slip a bit in your hand due to the size, shape, and smoothness of the handle. Very concerned about its longevity.--There's good and bad with this kettle, but a basic manufacturing flaw leads to the potential for leaks (which is a serious safety issue for an electric kettle).First, the good:- It's a pretty kettle.- It has a greater capacity than most gooseneck kettles. I was replacing a 1.7L v-spout model, and wasn't really looking for a gooseneck. But this came closest to what I needed, so that extra .3-.5L was a big deal to me.- There's no plastic (and therefore no plastic smell). There is a silicone ring around the lid and around the temperature sensor. Despite some reviews on this and other kettles, no, silicone and plastic are not the same, and they don't pose the same risks. If you expect to have a kettle with features like temperature control, you must have silicone gaskets because they're all going to have a temperature sensor. If that's a problem, stick with a stovetop kettle or understand you'll have to go with a simpler electric one without features that let you control or monitor the temperature (or one with a manual thermometer gauge built in instead).- The lid seems to fit snuggly (with a caveat below) and is easy enough to remove even when hot if you need to refill (though it would be better without the stainless steel as that stays hot for a good while).- The manual temperature control seems to work fine. And now, the not-so-good:- It's a bit underpowered / slow-to-boil. It takes longer to boil water with this 1.3L kettle than my older 1.7L one.- The display is a problem. I keep my kettle in my office, so it's close to eye-level on my coffee cart when I'm seated at my desk. But I can't see the display screen at all unless I stand and look down from above. From any other angle, the screen looks like it's displaying a jumbled mess. The colors and general display was a poor choice from Bonavita.- After the two boil settings, I went to heat up water at 180F for my tea. When it got to within a few degrees of the target, the kettle started clicking every few seconds as if the heater was shifting on and off, but way too often. With each click, lights started dimming then getting brighter. So there's clearly a greater power draw as the heater kicks in. This becomes a problem when it you set it to hold your temperature. Rather than letting the kettle cool a few degrees before reheating, it's a constant on-off clicking of the heater, which means a frequent extra power draw. Incredibly disappointing engineering for an important feature.- There appears to be a manufacturing defect along the top rim of the glass part of the kettle. In my more zoomed in photo, you'll see how the glass "bubbled" up along the rim. I have this in two spots on my kettle. It means there's a slight gap between the glass rim and the lid. I thought this would still be OK because the silicone seal on the lid seemed like it should still block the water from coming up. But, as you can see in my other photo, that's not the case. The photo was taken well before the water was boiling for the initial cleaning boil run (not sure at what temperature because you can't monitor the real-time temperature while it's heating to its target -- it just says "BOIL" the whole time which is something else they could improve). You can clearly see water comes up between the glass and the stainless steel of the lid, which the gasket should prevent.I can't help but wonder if this could be the cause of the leaks other buyers reported in reviews. I'm going to give it a few more runs and see how consistent the problem is. I suspect I might have to request a replacement kettle, but I'm concerned this might be a widespread problem if others are reporting leaks. This might be OK for my white tea in the 170-180F range. But I also use my kettle for coffee (200-205F) and black tea (boiling), so for the latter two I suspect this could be too much of a leak risk, especially because this is being kept in an office rather than a kitchen which might be better protected from water damage.

Beautiful, almost perfect! For this price... needs to be better.
I am a huge fan of glass. I have another Glass kettle, none goose neck, and was told I must try my pour overs with goose neck. Seems this might be the only glass model on the market, which is very sad.So i used it for about 2 weeks, only about 4-6 times. After that LCD screen has went on the fritz. As well the lid is showing signs of little rust, which it should not being stainless steel. This brings me to design flaws that need to be addressed next. ( I have read reviews on here about needing this and that and I see improvements from those reviews {thumbs up!} )1) There is stopper at the bottle where the pour spout is, so in order to get all the water out, you must rock it back and forth, or tip it upside down. So when not in use, you don’t want to have water in the bottom because of the silicon ring. if your brewing 0.5L of water, you need to add just a little more in the pot to make sure you get the right amount. Sense there is still water in the pot left, it sits and can cause the water (it is only like 1.5oz) smell like silicon the next day. I’m sure this will go away with use. But still.2) the lid and the spout seem to be the same material, it has the same feel, so if the lid is starting to show discoloration when only exposed to steam, I wonder whats in the spout looking like.3) the heating element seems to be a little small so it didn’t heat the water evenly.4) would not hold water temp after removing pot, nor would it hold temp above 208F, as well it seem like you have to turn the power on then off again for it to start reheating. When boiling, it just barely got to boil then shut off.5) the LCD display (picture as shown) went dark on me after a few uses.
