Bought it to mouli baby food, specifically prunes. Its messy, hard to clean, and a bit of a faff, but the mashed potato that you can make with it is to die for.

Excellent
Great quality as always from magimix. Easy to use and clean in dishwasher. Only problem is storage but a great item. Would recommend this product.

Smash, bang, clang
I'm not able to use this kit without worrying I will damage my 4200XL.Maybe it is something i am doing wrong but can't be sure because the manual provided in the box is useless in 17 languages. When I turn it on the puree kit spins inside the bowls and a small protrusion on it smashes against the lid. It seems a small lip on the kit is supposed to fit nicely into a groove in the lid but if it gets going it just spins and crashes about. When it does work the mashed potatoes are divine. When it doesn't work (and it doesn't usually) I worry it will cost me a small fortune to replace a broken XL lid!

Good but expensive accessory.
Does what is says on the packet. Star lost because of the sheer expensive nature of the Magimix add on parts. You spend a fortune on a Magimix machine and them another fortune to buy additional accessories.

Makes superb mash
I did not buy this attachment, it came free of charge when I purchased a Magimix as part of a marketing promotion. If anyone has ever attempted to make mash in a standard food processor, they will know what an absolute disaster this is. You end up with a type of potato glue, which is totally inedible and disgusting. Therefore, I was a little sceptical when I saw this attachment, wondering exactly how well it would work, but having used it for a year to make my mash, I can now honestly say it produces some of the best, lump free mashed potato I have had. Everybody I have served it to remarks on how light and fluffy it is, and, strange to say, how lovely it tastes. (I don't know why this is, but the taste of the mash really is better when made with this attachment than when made with a fork or hand masher). Here is how I have used it to produce fluffy, lump-free mash:1. I always cook my mash in advance as I like to give the process my complete attention and not have to be worrying about other dishes cooking at the same time. It reheats well from cold with a little butter in the microwave, so it can be made as far ahead as the day before if necessary.2: Use fluffy type potatoes that cook quickly, like King Edwards. Do not overcook them and don't allow them get too watery. Drain them well before putting in the Magimix.3. Put small pieces into the feeder, a few at a time. I made the mistake of putting larger pieces in when I first got it and the Magimix didn't cope well with them; it shook and rattled and pieces kept getting jammed in it. Smaller pieces it can handle well, although the machine still does shake quite a lot.3: When the mash is done, do not stir it too much or you risk turning it into glue. I use a big metallic spoon to transfer the mash from the mixer to a microwavable storage bowl and do nothing else at all with it until I am ready to reheat it. Then I gently fork some butter into the chilled potato just prior to popping in the microwave. It takes about 5 minutes in the microwave to reheat 600g of mashed potato.4. Wash the attachment parts immediately, or at the very least, rinse them. THIS IS IMPORTANT if you don't want to spend ages cleaning the attachment afterwards. Fresh, moist mash is easy to rinse off the attachments, but dried on mash is a nightmare. It hardens like concrete and you will have a terrible job trying to get it all off! Most of the parts will go in the dishwasher, although I would never let them sit about drying out, so only do this if you are about to run the dishwasher straight away. I have never ever placed the metal grater in the dishwasher. This is another reason why it is helpful to make the mash a day before you want it, as you are not trying to deliver a meal to the table AND clean/rinse all the parts of this attachment at the same time. If you just focus on producing the mash with nothing else to concentrate on, it is much easier. You are probably thinking, "That's a lot of work to make some mash". You are right. If you absolutely must have lump free, completely smooth mash, it might just be worth it. I did use mine for about a year, but I finally stopped when I found the Masha ( Masha Electric Potato & Vegetable Masher (Just 20 Seconds) ) also available here on Amazon at about half the price of this. It does the job just as well and doesn't need a military operation in order to clean it afterwards. Now for value for money. Is this worth spending £60-80 for? In all honesty, no. If all you want it for is to produce smooth, lump free mash, get a Masha. However, if you have a little one and need to purée a lot of food, then this attachment will do that too, so perhaps it would be worth the expense, if you don't mind all the cleaning and washing up it creates.Would I have bought this at the retail price after spending £200 on the mixer itself? Absolutely not, but as it came free through a promotion, it was at one time the most frequently used component of my Magimix - until I got a Masha. Now I don't use it at all.I have given this four stars, however, because it works well, produces excellent mash and I used mine for a whole year until I found something a lot less labour intensive (which is why this product lost a star).

Aweful. Not up to the job
Awful piece of kit. Not man enough for the job. Have had two, last one broke masking soft butternut squash. The knob on the side that holds it in place snaps easily. Waste of money.
