Life is not all black and white for Khumba, a young zebra born with only half his stripes. When his superstitious herd blame him for the sudden drought affecting the land, Khumba teams up with a sassy wildebeest and a flamboyant ostrich to find the legendary waterhole where the first zebras got their stripes. Great family movie!
We were looking for a non-Disney movie to show the kids and stumbled across this. Initially sceptical, by the end I was a huge fan! The story centres around a young Zebra missing half his stripes, setting out on a journey to find the fabled magic lake which can give him his stripes. The motto of the story seems to be 'don't judge a book (zebra) by its cover" but this was a fresh way of telling it.If you have kids, they'll love it. We're watching it again as I type!

a nice family animation movie
The whole family enjoyed this film on many levels - the story line, the emotions, and the 3D effect. Get it, you would enjoy it too I'm sure. My kids usually get bored too quickly with most movies but they sat through this one.

Good animation movie!
I liked that the story had a good message - be proud of being different and learn to be comfortable in your own skin - literally. Recognisable voice actors including Loretta Devine. Lovely animation, they really pay attention to the landscape and backdrop in the film. Similar kind of vibe to Lion King with the music. A nice film to watch with your young family.

Contrary to local film reviews I found this SA animation ...
Contrary to local film reviews I found this SA animation and story line both enticing and charming. I one to two brief secene dialogue of collective animals somewhat 'fuzzy' and inaudible.Suggest sub-titles in a least several African language e.g, Lion King in Zulu
