The bunk beds are not that tall; without measuring I would guess that the top bunk would be 80-90 cm. Our kids just climbed onto the top bunk without the need for a step or ladder (they were 6 and 7 when we purchased the beds, but even our 3 year old could get up there).

You get what you pay for

Sturdy and doesn't creek. Only downside is the the cost but I use this for weekends I have the kids, so I was prepared to pay the extra for something quality. I wasn't disappointed and it will get plenty of use.
