Do NOT buy this laptop
I wish I could rate this lower than one star, I really do.This laptop is painfully slow and horribly unreliable.Read the other reviews and believe everyone who gave it one star.It doesn't take long for the flaws to kick in. It randomly loses power and turns off for no apparent reason. The battery seems to drain fast and charge slow.Nothing about this laptop is good. The price isn't worth the cost.

The trackpad is nice and responsive--keyboard is springy for those who like them ...
I bought this for my wife's work and web browsing at home. She's a home health nurse who needed basic functionality and prioritized aesthetic over performance. It came in a sealed package brand new and took quite a while to update Windows 10 completely. I uninstalled some McAfee trash and afterwards, things ran smoothly. The trackpad is nice and responsive--keyboard is springy for those who like them that way.

There is an ongoing problem with the computer powering off when on battery power. First fix from ASUS did not work. Will try the second recommendation but do not feel to enthusiastic about the prospects..

Asus laptop
Don’t not buy this laptop . The battery isn’t good . It shuts off even if it’s fully powered . As long as the charger is remove it shuts off and it says it’s a “new” laptop . It slow n glitchy . Worst use of money . It only looks new . It’s very heavy . I wouldn’t recommend anyone to buy

Had to take it apart to get it to work again
My parents got this laptop thinking it would be a bargain. The goal was to use this machine for email checking and paper writing. As with others, this machine began to shut down, not charge, not turn on, etc. We had an evo 860 ssd in to bump up performance but that didn't help much. I got the laptop to work again but only after taking it apart and separating the mother board from the battery. I put the laptop back together, minus the battery, and it worked. When I put the battery back in again, the machine functioned normally. It should be mentioned that while the battery was out, I installed a clean copy of windows 10 on a hdd. So far so good. I'm writing this review now while using the x541sa on battery power. It may be one of those machines that every so often it needs to be reset by removing the battery.
