Chilling and Redemptive.
This was a great book. Please don't misunderstand--the subject matter and circumstances were dreadful--but it is a story that needed to be told. I applaud Victoria Spry for being so forthcoming with her tragic upbringing--rather, the tragic first portion of her life. She is brave beyond words. She is a true survivor. It angers and saddens me that so many people have to go through situations such as these, and it seems as though no one believes them, or treats them as though they are not a priority. People like Eunice do not deserve sympathy, nor do they deserve a second chance. The justice system (American or not, apparently, as they were in the U.K.) is a complete joke. They claim to help innocent people who need the help, but it is a sham. We need more people like Victoria in the world, and in social justice jobs. They understand what it is like, all too well. They have lived the hell Victoria did. I pray, one day, no one else will have to know this type of life either.

From Fear, to Victory
This was a very hard book to read. Not just because of the content, but also because you know its true. The words, the description, the emotions, are real. They all happened to someone. You want to crawl into the book and make everything better. This book was very well written. It comes from a perspective you never want to see, but helps you to be more aware, more understanding.I recommend this book to anyone who works with children, to anyone with an interest in helping abuse survivors, and to those who like to read true crime.

Unbelievably Touching But Hurts Your Soul
I have never read a book so intense, especially based on a true story. I found it hard to stop reading but oftentimes had to turn my head due to the horrific acts these poor children had to endure, especially Victoria. Im only in the middle of the book and felt compelled to already leave my review. Its saddens me to my core that Victoria has the kindest and sweetest heart and soul, I can simply tell by the way she explained her experience, no foul vocabulary, no hatred and so forth.. She was incredibly obedient to her wretched foster mother and the foster mother could not SEE her kind soul. Im a Christian and I found it very difficult to not want to wish the absolute worst for the foster mother and have the same horrific acts performed on her but 10 times worse! I think its only natural to feel this way when innocent children are put through a nightmare like that. Incredible read!!

Difficult to recommended
It's hard to recommend this book purely because it's horrific. The book is well written but this girls mother was an absolute monster. I nearly stopped reading because i found it quite distressing but i just wanted to know that Victoria thrived and survived. The pure fact she wrote this is an example of her strength of character.

And Tortured She Was!!
It is so hard to believe that anyone could do all that to a child but then I was in a very abusive marriage that most people can't believe happened. I am so sorry that you went through all that. When you had to give up your dogs I just started to cry. My dogs are what keep me alive now so I just can't imagine how you did that!!! I thought this book was very well written and compelling. I couldn't put it down as I wanted to see how it ended.

Wonderful story but a sad (not in the book) ending...
Horrible is not a strong enough word to describe the life Victoria had. I can't even think of a word that's bad enough. It's hard to believe a child could survive all the things that were done to her. I read the book in two days, and I really could not put it down. It is so heartbreaking, and definitely not for those with a sensitive stomach. People need to know this sort of thing really does happen and that they need to speak up if things look suspicious in a family home. I commend Victoria for finding the strength to survive and then to tell her story. Torrie, you are amazing!... Now on to the harder part of my review. I ended up researching Torrie after I finished reading this book and I came across articles of her passing. This was so hard for me to read because she fought for so long to overcome the mental anguish that comes with surviving abuse and she ended up taking her own life because she just couldn’t fight anymore. Victoria, Rest In Peace now, you are free of the pain. ❤️

Book has me in tears
Amazing book. I’m not really much of a reader but I read this book all the way to the end! Some points in the book brought me to tears! Eunice spry is an extremely manipulative and evil woman and it’s so inspiring to me that you exposed her for who she truly is. As an Internet addict I couldn’t even see myself choosing to read a book over looking at my smartphone but this book had me hooked! This book has not only inspired me to help children but to read more! Thank you so much for writing this!

Hard to find words to describe this book.
Horrible is not a strong enough word to describe the life Victoria had. I can't even think of a word that's bad enough. It's hard to believe a child could survive all the things that were done to her. But this is one story that truly has a happy ending. I read the book in 3 days, something I seldom do, but I really could not put it down. It's very heartbreaking, not for those with a queasy stomach. But at the same time people need to know this sort of thing goes on and that they need to speak up if things look suspicious in a family home. I commend Victoria for finding the strength to survive and then to tell her story. Torrie, you are amazing! I pray God gives you the things you want in life.

A heartwrenching book
If you like true stories, this is an extremely sad "hard to read" horrifyingly detailed true account of this girl's life story. I had read her brother's book as well. And am waiting for her sister's book to arrive next.

Shocking true story
This book is a 5 star - although I couldn’t put the book down, it is a hard read! What these children had to endure is absolutely horrific.Well written & reminds me a lot of the book child called it. If you haven’t read that, put that one on your list. This book will bring you to tears in some parts

Too painful to read. My heart bleeds for Victoria..
This is too difficult to read. I cry heavily after reading every 2-3 pages.I bought this book to compare with my life, as I feel suicidal every now and then. I blame my mom for several things in my life. So, I kind of wanted to see what worse could have happened with me. And I can say that this book will make me live. My heart bleeds for Victoria. No one deserves this.I don't have much words.. Though I am an atheist, I really hope that heaven exists and Victoria has got a place there. She shouldn't have been born. Life can be so unfair. People can be so cruel. I myself will be forever happy after this. Because my life is almost perfect, and I realise that I was taking my good time of this life as granted.Words can't describe my pain for Victoria.

Buen libro , pero la infancia dolorosa
Difícil de tarifa un libro tan triste como bueno, pero está bien escrito, no hay errores tipográficos como con algunos libros electrónicos . La historia es muy conmovedora
