How big around are they

Not really sure how to answer that. I'm a size 12 & they fit fine with a lil "slouch". I'm guessing if you have big legs you'll still be fine because of how long they are. They have some give.

Do they fit big calves?

Yes, good question, I was a roller skater (years ago) and am still an avid walker. I've always had big thighs and calves. These are excellent for keeping those ankles warm, love mine!

They are exactly as they look in the photo. They’re not very thick or long. I used them as a costume accessory, and they were fine for that.

Why is wool in the name if you have the materials listed as 100% acrylic?

Because it makes customers happy to think of lambs & natural things instead of plastic. The fibers are sold as acrylic wool in knitting shops.
