Switched from Fitbit Versa-lite to Garmin Instinct Solar
Coming from what seems to me to be the slightly more intuitive interface of a Fitbit Versa-lite, this took some getting used to (I'm actually still getting used to it, and it's been a few months now), but I do like it a lot!Functionally, it's great. It does what I need it do, when I need to do it, and it seems to do it well. The only features I really miss from my Fitbit, are the intuitive alarm (it would wake you within half an hour of your set time when it sensed the best time was for you to wake up)--to my knowledge, that's not an option on this watch, but it's a minor thing that I'd grown accustomed to, but isn't a deal-breaker--and the touch screen. Having buttons is a little bit of an adjustment. Now, the pros: (there are soo many and I'll probably forget some!)It fits my smaller, female wrist just fine and it's actually pretty light (not as light as my former Fitbit was, but light enough to not be bothersome.)The main reason I got this, besides the awesome solar-power feature, is because I'm hella-hard on watches. I'm constantly knocking them into things while just going about my day. My Versa lasted about a month before I hit the screen hard enough to crack it, despite having a screen protector on it--thankfully, it still worked for about a year, but it finally got to the point where it was acting weird, so getting something new was necessary. This watch, with the inset screen (and the extra ballistic glass screen protector that came with my hubby's Garmin watch :D), that's not an issue. It seems really sturdy and able to take a beating, which is good. The battery life is phenomenal! And it's even better if you don't have all of the features turned on, but even with them on, it lasts about 8-12 days! UNLESS you're out in the sun, which then charges it as you go. I hate having to worry about charging my watch every four days (Fitbit, I'm looking at you) so this is perfect.I love that Garmin isn't trying to get me to upgrade/buy their full app so I can use the more advanced features, like challenges and routines. It's all just there, available to use, and that's awesome! The idea of it being waterproof is fantastic - I haven't had much of a chance to test this, but I will once pool season starts up again. Fingers crossed! :)The pulse-ox is great. The sleep info is good. Between those two things and keeping track of what I do/don't do daily, I feel like I've got a good roadmap on what things help me get better sleep and what things I've been doing to sabotage myself. The miles, when compared with my android app on my phone, are pretty darn accurate--within 0.2 miles, so not too shabby!I mostly workout in my neighborhood, so I haven't gotten the chance to use the GPS, but this spring we're going to be doing some hikes, so that will come in handy, I'm sure.Oh, and the teal color (if you can manage to find it) is fab!Overall, I really like this watch and I think as I explore its features, I'll probably end up liking it even more--change is hard, but definitely worth it. I liked it enough to come back and buy my hubby the tactical version for Christmas, so that says quite a lot. :) If you're on the fence, I know it's a nice chunk of change, but it's a really functional, durable, light watch that does pretty much everything you need a watch like this to do and then some. I'm not sure you can go wrong with it.

Watch is great. Battery pack is junk.
Battery pack was junk out of the box. Watch is tough as nails.

What a great health sport GPS tracker
The battery lasts me 10 days with all the stuff I have turned on (no gps). My primary use is health tracking and there are a bunch of features that really allow me to monitor change and performance.

I am surprised at how much I like this watch
Update after just over one year:I am still super happy with this watch. I love it's durability, the way it looks, the functions it has and it's customizability in terms of configuring it's menus. It has a ton of useful tools that I regularly use that I didn't think I would initially.I have beat the crap out of this watch and it is holding up really well. I continue to work construction part time and spend many nights and weekends in an at home fabrication shop grinding, cutting and welding and I never take it off.Still, my only minor gripe is having to charge it every couple of weeks. My main problem with this is that I hate to take it off my wrist while it's charging. If you are thinking about an outdoor 'smart' watch, I strongly suggest this model.Original Review after about 6 months:This is my first (semi) smart watch and I love it! I was very nervous about upgrading my 20 year old G-Shock, that still works fine, but I am glad I did. I wanted the ability to track hikes with out my phone and to use the watches course guidance feature. Loading courses on the watch is a bit of a process and requires the use of .gpx data and the Garmin Connect App. I am pretty tech. savvy, but it took some Googling and YouTube videos to figure out. It's easy now and the guidance works really well and isn't too bad on battery life. The biggest things I was concerned about with the watch was battery life and durability. The battery life is excellent (lasts as described or better) and charges quickly. I have put a beating on this watch and it still looks great and works perfect. I process 20 face cords of fire wood per year, work in my persona shop as a backyard fabricator (welding and grinding frequently) and do excavation work part time. The watch has seen a lot in the last few months and has been holding up really well.I would recommend this watch to any outdoor enthusiast who wants to add some tech to their wrist. Well worth the expense.

No need for any other watch. This does it all
This watch does everything I need an more. I have bought a few different watch’s off of here before I finally broke down and spent the money. It was well worth it. I track my work out on the spot. I can track myself from my truck to my hunting spots and also use back tracking feature to get back. I can enter grid coordinates and navigate to any spot I pick on the map. You can run music see your messages and one I find very handy is find my phone with it. I’ve gone five days since fully charged and the battery dropped only one bar. Absolutely impressed with how well this watch runs. I could go on and on. I highly recommend it

Seems to be a very good health watch
I like the function of the watch. The best part is tidal prediction based on gps. Anywhere on the water I know th tides. The owners manual is tiny. Connection to my phone was difficult and took several tries to set up the program. Changing programs is difficult. I accidentally removed the sleep function and it took a lot of time to figure out how to get it back. I really like the heart beat warning it gives even though I have mine set at 100 it lets me know when I need to take a minute to relax. I really don't like the view screen light. I have to turn it on every time I need to see time at night. A bit of reflectant on the hands would be a good addition. The solar function is a bit of a joke. Instructions are to take the watch off and set it in the sun for a few hours each day to extend battery life. I purchased a watch to give the time when I want it and not to have it sitting on a porch rail somewhere. Overall I am very happy with the watch.
