It works - give it some time
Takes some getting used to if you’ve never used one. I accepted the challenge, took me a couple of weeks but then I am able to whistle songs. I also bought the metal version which is a lot easier to use (first go) but I prefer the feel of the plastic in my mouth. Had to watch a few videos on how to get the first whistle out !! It was challenging at first but once you get the hang of it , it’s fun.

Does the job!
Great little whistle. I learned on this before buying a Logan Ventura Brass whistle (10x the cost)performance is basically similar, the brass is better for sure and more durable but like if you need something that is going to absolutely get the job done then this is for sure your winner. You literally CAN NOT go wrong here. Also just know that learning to do this takes time, its not super easy to learn how to use. I spent many hours sounding like an idiot blowing into this thing until finally making a sound but can now whistle literally anything with it. Wish there were more resources on how to use these in general.

practice makes perfect
I have several of this type whistle and I enjoy them very much. I really enjoy my dogs response to these whistles. I have a couple dogs that were rescued from abusive homes and calling them can be a challenge. One of the dogs was treated terribly and if you holler at him in any way he will just roll over on his back because he thinks he's going to take a beating best I can figure. It doesn't matter how far away or where he is, if he's in the road with a truck coming, roll over. Since I've discovered these whistles everything is great. I whistle and he comes running wagging his tail and happy. Saved us both I think. I like these ACME Nickle Silver type whistles because they are functional and last forever. There are cheaper plastic ones and expensive brass whistles but these are really worth the bang for the buck.thanks

Funny Taste
More difficult to use than plastic model and tougher on the teeth. Mine seems to be bent at an odd angle. Works in a pinch but would not purchase this model again.

The ACME Dog Whistle lacks instructions
I bought this ACMEE Shepard's Whistle off of Amazon, model 576, thinking it would be an easy way to make a whistle sound. My mouth does not do so well any more, BUT I cannot for the life of me figure out HOW to make it whistle???? There were no directions with it, and a search of the internet gave me anything but help I have an American Collie and Shelties or Shetland Sheepdogs but thought it would be nice to sing along with Eddie Arnold' s cattle call song as well. BUT there were no directions...it does not look like a whistle, just a flat black plastic mouthpiece which does nothing?

Oh the memories
I bought this for my grandson but had to try it out before I gave it to him. I didn’t buy it to train dogs though. It was something to help my grandson whistle louder. He loves it and it only took about 20 minutes for me to get a sound. I was highly impressed with myself till my grandson did it from the start. Lol.

Shepherd whistle is one LOUD little whistle
The 575 Shepherd whistle takes a bit to learn, but once you get it right it is very versatile. You can do fairly soft whistles in a few tones (even some simple melodies), or you can let loose with some ear splitting whistles. Very small, very simple, very loud.

works, but tastes like biting a coin
I did get the hang of the whistle after a day, where I could get a basic whistle. I still can. It works very well. BUT, after the first day it started tasting rough. Like a penny in the mouth. It is nickel so I should have expected it. But I did not expect it to be quite so sharp in taste. I expected more of a silver taste which is not so bad at all. I can now put it in my mouth and create the basic whistle anytime, but it tastes like I am doing so with a mouth full of coins. Ick. I think I would rather have a 9 volt battery on my tongue. Now looking for another one.Oh, I nearly forgot, it was so sharp in the die cut, it actually rubbed my lips raw. I had hubby, on day 3, smooth out the sharp metal edges, so at least it didn't hurt my lips, even if it tasted rough. It DOES catch the attention of my puppy though. She comes, without even being called, when I use it. A shepherd's whistle is indeed a wonderful tool. I hope to find one that doesn't make me look for gum after using one though.
