Yes LD Carlson is a brewing supply company. This Gypsum is meant to be a salt addition for brewing water.

Package says 1lb, but description says item weight is 14.4oz?

I spot checked our stock of 1lb Calcium Sulfate and all weigh just over 16oz. I'll suggest a listing edit to Amazon on that and on the spelling.
