usb 3.1 is backwards compatible with 3.0. Why on earth would it "blow up" a usb 3.0 device?!?!?!?!?!?!

Worth a try but remember, proprietary (cables) often contain internal circuitry which the phone detects and sets the charging level accordingly.

Officially it's 1m. I measured mine and it's 1.05m (plug to plug, not including the tips).
