SOCIETY OF THE SPECTACLE

Gives you much to think about.
Guy Debord seems to be prescient in his ideas. He's a very clear thinker who seems to have truly understood an aspect of modernity others have missed. In some ways, he goes beyond Marx and gives us a meta perspective of the world we live in.I only wonder how much of this book was lost in translation (and by corollary, how much was found). The book is a little hard to read. Parts where I was aware of what he was trying to communicate seemed to be extremely articulate. Parts which were new avenues of thought I found hard to read, but leave me hopeful that I'll understand as my own thinking and observations mature.

Essential. Can be tough reading
Guy Debord wrote/published this book in 1967. The book is tough to read, and some passages may seem opaque. You may need familiarity with Marxian philosophy to appreciate one chapter. However, his analysis of society and history is frightening and relevant. The analysis becomes more relevant by the day.Definitely, buy the book and read it.
