Q: What is the size of the actual plate itself?

The hole I covered was 6" inside diameter. There is a metal piece that bends to fit hole so I would say yes it would fit, although the diameter of actual cover is 9 3/4". For us it covers and old stove pipe no longer used and this looks so much better.

Q: Would this fit an 8 inch hole in a chimney flue?
