The ability to "flex the handle" so you can vacuum properly under the bed is awesome...
We moved to the UK about a year ago from Norway. In Norway we stopped using wall-to-wall carpets in houses in the early eighties, so the need for vacuum cleaners with anti-hair wrap technology is not something you really need in Norway. Good suction power will suffice. The house we got in the UK had carpets though, and as quite a few of my family members are allergic, having the means to thoroughly vacuum the carpets suddenly was a must.We bought a different Shark, The Powered Lift-Away Anti-Hair Wrap vacuum, immediately upon arrival in the UK, mostly due to its good reviews. It worked perfectly on the carpets, and I loved the lift-away bit for use on the stairs, but the one thing this Shark could not manage, was properly getting under the beds. We tried using our robot vacuum for this, but it just could not properly handle carpets. Therefore, when we saw the Shark Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner was on sale, incorporating the same anti-hair wrap technology as the lift-away vacuum did, we decided to buy this one as well just on account of the ability to flex the handle to get under furniture.I have tried it a couple of times now, and I am impressed by its ease of use. The ability to flex the vacuum to allow it to get under the beds is awesome. Also having all controls on the handle (power on/off, adjusting suction power, and switching between carpet and hard floor mode) is a nice feature. All in all, I am impressed by this vacuum. Prior to buying it I read in other reviews that it was a bit heavy to operate, but I cannot say I share this view. Even on full suction power I felt it moved easily enough on the carpet. Naturally it will be a bit heavier to move it back and forth when vacuuming a carpet on full suction power, but this, in my opinion, this is to be expected. Vacuuming carpets is not the same as vacuuming hard floors, and this did not really cause me any problems for me. If the price of having clean carpets is having to use a little bit of elbow grease from time to time when I vacuum, it is a price I am willing to pay. As to the overall weight of the vacuum itself, it is certainly not heavier than any of the other vacuums I have owned up through the years, and it rolled nicely on the floor as I moved around the rooms.Emptying the vacuum, as well as cleaning the filters, is just as easy with this one as with the other Shark we own. The one advice I would give though, is to empty the vacuum container outside if you have the chance. The finer dust particles easily go flying when you open the hatch into a waiting garbage bag.If there is anything I would comment upon as a negative, it is the placement of the attachment piece for the extra tools. I am not sure if I did something wrong, but the way they ended up being positioned, they were in the way when I was vacuuming under the beds. It would be better if they made room for these attachments on the vacuum body itself. As a result, I have chosen to not use this attachment. Whenever I need the tools for vacuuming the furniture and the different nooks and crannies in the house, the tools are never far away anyway. Also, the head of the vacuum is a bit on the big side. It has to be to incorporate the anti-hair wrap technology. As a result, it will not necessarily fit under all furniture, especially furniture with very low floor clearance. As with all other vacuums of the same kind I have owned, the cord can end up being a pain sometimes as you move around, and the auto spooling mechanism of the power cord has to be manually aided from time to time, but for me this is no big deal. All in all, I have to say this is a very good product, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good vacuum for use on carpets. The folding handle enabled me to finally access areas under beds properly. Had I known about this product when I first arrived in the UK, I would not have bought the Shark lift-away vacuum, but as it stands now, I will have to make good use of them both going forward.

Fantastic suction, low noise
This is a great value bagless vacuum. I've had a Dyson animal cylinder for the last five years. This one is so much lighter and doesn't hurt my ears. At a touch of a button you can swap from laminate to carpet which is great for rugs on laminate. I did find the head quite heavy at first and a struggle but soon got used to it. I thought that the light on the head was a gimmick but it is actually really useful. The suction is great and has 3 levels. It collects bits and dust right up the edge of the skirting board. The bit you drag behind you wheels freely and is really light. I don't like the accessories on the pipe so leave them separate and it didn't come with a little brush so will look for one. The cable is super long and I can do the whole upstairs or downstairs with one plug in. Great on the stairs too, the mini head is what I use. Very pleased. I hate buying household goods like this but this was very worthwhile and I feel the house is cleaner. One of the best things is it is so easy to clean and dries quickly. My Dyson was a nightmare to clean and I never could get into the 8 fycluders to remove all the dirt. After using it to clean the whole house I was the two filters, the large and small compartment. I have just bought some replacemt filters so I don't need to wait for it to dry.

A good overall vacuum
I am writing this review as someone who was just looking for a vacuum to replace their 6yr old Dyson DC39, which was beginning to fall apart. Adding up the replacement costs of some of the parts for the Dyson, it wasn't too short of the price of a new vacuum. After a bit of research, I decided to take the plunge and purchase this Shark. This is the second Shark vacuum I own (I also have one of their cordless models for quick cleans around the house) - after a few days of use there are several good points to this vacuum along with a few drawbacks worth highlighting...POSITIVES:- Packaging is all paper with no plastics- Good suction power, with the option to vary the suction power through the screen on the handle- All functions (on/off, suction, floor setting) can be controlled from the screen on the handle- A good set of accessories included- I personally like that the bin isn't 100% translucent (if you look closely enough you can see how full it is, but it's not completely on show)- The unit is light (compared to my old Dyson) and can sit on a stair upright as you clean- The cord (9m length) allows for a full clean of my downstairs without switching to another plug- 5yr GuaranteeNEGATIVES:- The accessories do not "click" into place, although they do look to have some form of clicking mechanism that works with another model.- The turbo pet brush is silver in colour, so it doesn't match the gold/black colour scheme (a small niggle but Shark have went to the effort to colour match everything else so it does seem like a lazy choice)- The are no "bumpers" or rubber elements on the canister, meaning it will get scratched (or leave marks) if it does hit a wall or furniture- The anti-hair wrap function reduces the amount of hairs on the roll, but doesn't remove the issue entirely.- The brush bar is not user replaceable, you can wash the soft roller, but the brush bar forms part of the overall head unit. This means if you want a new brush roll (because some brushes/fins are damaged), you need to buy a whole new head. This is the biggest issue I believe which is why I have deducted 1 star, as a new head forms about 1/3 of the overall cost of the vacuum as a replacement when it inevitably will need replacing.
