The best in-window bird feeder!
My tax return just came and I decided to take a chance on this more expensive item. First, I was shocked to see it was constructed from solid wood. Contrary to others’ experiences, the pieces fit together easily. I LOVE the hatch which allows you to pour seed in from the inside - with suction cup feeders I would have to open my 3rd story window and contort my arm to pour more seed in from the outside while trying not to let my cats out! Unlike other window bird feeders which use suction cups, which get dirty, are unsightly, and don’t stick, this uses side panels to secure itself into the side groove of the window, like a window fan or a/c unit. The only downside is that my window has a one inch bottom lip that means the feeder is not sitting flush on the inside window sill, which is the same problem I have when I put in my window a/c. So even though the feeder seemed secure, I did put a small rock (could use a towel or block of wood) between the indoor sill and the base of the feeder just to make it extra secure. Lastly, some reviews mention rain being a problem. Fortunately the way this feeder sits allows you to close the storm window on the outside to prevent rain from coming in (see pictures). So read the clouds or the weather report before you leave for the day I guess. Honestly 10/10 best frivolous tax return purchase I’ve ever made, this has been my TedTalk. Update: I did not read the clouds and forgot to drop the storm window and it rained pretty hard last night. The bird feeder stayed dry, no leaks into the feeder or my house. 11/10.

The package arrived without all the parts
I was excited to gift this to my husband for Christmas and purchased it early. Of course it arrived and I wrapped it holding on for Christmas beyond the return window. Christmas day arrived and it was missing the clear plastic part that keeps the whole thing together. Extremely dissapointed.

Its great, but....
I like everything about this feeder....the style, construction, ease of assembly and filling, and installing it in my window. It's very attractive. The only problem comes from the fact that I have had it for a month now and no birds have found it. I am very disappointed. I live in a second-floor apartment and it's likely the birds aren't looking up that high for food and the fact that the feeder is actually inside my living room, they can't see that there is food there. I am considering using a suction feeder on the outside of the window to hopefully bring the birds up to the other feeder. So I can only recommend this feeder if you are using it on a ground-floor window and even then it will probably take more time for the birds to find it than a conventional feeder. I wish it had some kind of shelf on the outside that would hold seeds just to get the birds to notice it.Update: A bird finally found my feeder, but at this time of year with plants going to seed, I have a feeling I still wont see many birds at the feeder until the late fall/early winter when seeds are gone. But at least one of them knows its there!Update 2: The Mourning Doves have found the feeder this year and they keep the other birds away. Other models of the same feeder now have a sliding door in the front that you can raise or lower to keep larger birds out. Perhaps a piece with a small hole opening like a birdhouse would be a good solution. I might have to see if I can jury rig something on my own or all I will see are Mourning Doves.

Took a while
It took a while for the birds to trust coming inside. That's probably because it's just 3' from my bed. They visited a couple times but I was unable to catch them for a pic, I just heard them fly away as I rolled. Well, this wet and colder morning finally found one male house finch brave enough to stick around for a photo. So, placement away from human traffic nearby would probably work out better. As far as the window unit, it looks very nice and almost part of the window build! It was a little difficult to line everything up without an extra set of hands keeping the plastic in place while tightening down the connecting rod (my knee came in handy for this lol). Two things could be improved: 1. a way to close it (i.e. a sliding door) for when the weather is horrible, and 2. A foam or other material as a thick seal between the bottom of the window and above this unit (like what window ac units use). However, both were an easy add for myself. I purchased it for an awesome price, so I'm not disappointed by this. I may purchase another for another area of the house in the future, but once on sale.

The Best of Birds !
My grandmother is in her room a lot and doesn't get around to well. I got her this and she LOVES it !! The birds come and eat basically inside her room. The window is low enough the squirrels come eat too. She has them all named and watches their behavior patterns. It's definitely an added interest to her life. It's easy to clean, no mess on the inside of the room. Great idea and product !!

Good product, good store response
UPDATE / WARNING: The seller listed is not the seller that I bought it from. My seller was Paradise Birdhouses, the package came from NC.I bought this as a gift and it arrived faster than promised. It seems well-made and I put it together in about 10 minutes. It doesn't have any locking mechanism so if security is a concern you will need to McGyver something for that. I had a pricing issue with Amazon on this product but the seller (Paradise Birdhouses) responded right away and made good on it. There are other versions of this out there that look exactly like the one from Paradise but are cheaper and have more negative reviews. Buyer beware.
