Loke RPG Battle Maps: Add-on Scenery - Magic Effects

Disappointing.
The price was right compared to similar items for spell effects. I thought I'd give it a try. A fire ball happens in an instant in game, you want a visual aid to measure distance and it gives players a sense of what just happened when you drop a prop on the map. The problem with this product is that they are "stickers". You have to peel them off the paper they come on, not easy and needlessly time consuming. Then you "stick" it on the map for 1 second (moving minis out of the way), then you peel it off the map and place them back on the original sheet. It is impractical. I had hoped that I could stick them to a piece of thin transparent plastic but the Add-on Scenery is designed to only stick to laminated surfaces.

Look good, but less convenient than plastic
I love the Loke Add-on Scenery for use on laminated battle maps/mats, and I bought all the other scatter terrain sets they make. I decided to get the spell effects set too, since some of the pieces might be useful for customizing my battle maps. (Unfortunately, they are less useful during combat for showing the area-of-effect of a cast spell.)They don't get five stars because vinyl isn't the best for spell effects, since it's harder to move around on the mat and harder to store and retrieve during combat than the kind that is printed on a stiffer plastic sheet. These must be stuck down to the map and are usually too floppy to just lay over the top of a bunch of minis. However, if you're using them to alter the appearance of your battle mat (such as adding a summoning circle to the castle floor), for that use, I'd give five stars.

This is unusable
The product showcase shows how easily the clings are removed from the paper underneath. Nothing could be father from the truth. The only reason I gave it two stars is because I like the artwork. They are useless if they will not come off of the paper without the paper sticking to them. I love the Loke maps. This product is bad.
