I bought this to study documents that I have to read. Unfortunately for me they were printed with very small font. Fortunately, this product exists. It works much better than I expected. It does not distort the text, and it is much lighter than I expected. The 3 LED lights are perfect. I sit back in my chair with this in my hand, and my fingers don't get tired of holding it as I scan the docs. The acrylic parabolic mold is not glued to the casing, so you could just use the acyrlic part if you didnt want the casing and lights. I'm happy with the total package though. Well worth the money in my case.

Bought this remind 90 year old mother who has macular degeneration. She loves it. However she dropped it onto a carpeted floor and the lens popped off the base. I haven't seen it yet but I'm hoping it just snaps back in place. Otherwise I guess we'll need to glue it.

This is actually a very well-made and attractive magnifier and it seems to work as advertised. My problem is that I ordered two magnifiers at once, thinking I would keep the one that worked best for my needs. I decided to keep the other one because for reading it suits my needs better. Both arrived today, in one package. After deciding which one was more suited to my needs, I started the return process on this one and that was when I discovered that this product CANNOT BE RETURNED. I think that for any product that can't be returned, AMAZON has an obligation to their customers to make that absolutely clear BEFORE purchase! If there was any such warning on the product information page, I did not see it--and going back to that page, I have still found no warning that this product cannot be returned. Now I have a $22 magnifier I can't use, and frankly, as a faithful and VERY frequent Amazon customer, I'm pretty mad.

Good quality but not effective for me. I use the solid dome magnifiers which are muchmore powerful.

The desktop device magnifies well, but the LED lights are too bright for my wife's eyes.She has a severe retina problem and many people would not have the same problem. We hope to work around the lighting problem and still be able to use the device.

The product arrived in good time and in great condition. It works beautifully, and I really like the nice, bright light that clicks on and off so easily. The soft velvety carry case is most handy, as well. My only (slight) disappointment is that I thought it would be a bit more compact. Even so, I can easily take on on airplanes with my so I can work on jigsaw puzzles on my min-iPad!

I ordered the magnifier to look at photographs for the archiving I'm doing. I am amazed at the new details that I can see with the help of the magnifier and light. The photo on the box doesn't really do the magnification justice. I have a photo of a restaurant my parents owned in the '40's, and with the magnifier, I was able to read the labels of products on the back shelf--something I could barely see without it!

I bought this for my father. It is easy to use, the light adds the extra help he needs along with the magnification. He did find that if he turned it over the lense fell out of the plastic housing, but it lays back in easily.
