Hoocap DSLR 67mm lens cap + hood shade 2in1 for filter thread lens TR67

I bought this hood/cap to use with my big Olympus Zuiko ED 50-200 SWD 4/3rds lens. The OEM hood that comes with the lens is so big, some people have called it a champagne bucket. So, I thought that this might be a compact and convenient substitute. The Hoocap went on easily, but one should be careful of cross-threading. With this size, that's easy to do if you're not careful. After screwing it onto the front of the lens, one rotates the hood until it is vertically aligned then snaps the latch shut to keep it in position. The manufacturer provides a filter wrench in case you have difficult tightening or loosening the Hoocap. It also comes very well packaged and protected.The Hoocap seems to work well on my lens, but doesn't offer as much shading as the gargantuan Olympus hood, naturally. There is no vignetting. It seemed to work fine outdoors in sunny conditions, and snapping the upper and lower leaves together to cover the front of the lens is kinda cool. I think this particular design is probably better suited to moderate wide angle to short telephoto lenses, rather than the rather long 50-200 (100-400mm 35mm equivalent) Olympus lens. But, it fits nicely in the bag and is rather convenient. Better a hood than none. As I am a little anal about hoods for my lenses, I would not go without one. So, until otherwise, it's a fixture on my lens. I deducted one star only because it's probably better suited to a wider lens than the one I'm using it on.

This is very clever and convenient accessory for those run-n-gun photo/video folks who regularly take out their camera from its case and start shooting immediately. I like it so much that I have one for each of my cameras. It provides good general protection of the lens, but is by no means airtight like a standard lens cap. As long as you are aware of its limitations, I think you'll find it a welcome accessory.

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this for my Sony AX100. The AX100 has a 62mm lens thread, so I had to purchased a 62mm to 67mm "step up filter" to attach the Hoocap. The Hoocap works great. It looks professional and I won't have to fool around with the old lens cap anymore. Sometimes it would take me 2 or 3 tries to align the lens cap with the threads of the camera lens. This Hoocap will solve that issue and I don't ever have to worry about losing my lens cap anymore.

Perfect solution to the problems presented by the original lens cap. I was always misplacing the cap, and using a lens cap leash was not acceptable to me. This Hoocap is easy to use and while it is a bit larger than the original hood that came with the camera, it is not a problem. The added sunlight shading provided by the Hoocap is nice too. Good purchase. Worth the money.

I wish I could lock it when I close it because it opens when I put it in the bag every now and then
