I've made a little video for you to listen to. I think it's a pretty quiet hum. There is a point when u don't have enough water in and it makes more noise but you top it up with a little more water and it goes quieter again. I'm pleased how quiet it is. I bought it to mask my tinnitus and it wouldn't be good to replace it with an annoying humming but I really think this is pretty quiet. Hope that helps.

On the pump itself there is a wee switch at the side what is that for

It allows u to change the speed of the flow of water
