This thing is fantastic.Easy installation, step-by-step instructions. The included USB drive DID have the most recent firmware (I double-checked online), and was able to support the full 4TB out of the package. I can go into rest mode, I can do everything I used to be able to do, but now I've got 4TB of storage. I downloaded my whole library just for the heck of it and still haven't even touched the 25% mark.The only hiccup I ran into is that the firmware install (after safe mode reboot) kept hanging at 99% for awhile. I was freaking out and double checking everything. Once I uninstalled the drive, though, and reconnected everything firmly, step-by-step, when I tried it again it sailed right through.Love this thing. Really cool addon, can't recommend it enough.

I just installed this yesterday, and there's a couple things you should be aware-of beforehand to SAVE YOURSELF SOME TIME AND FRUSTRATION:1) They provide a USB stick for you to backup all your saved game files, settings, etc. To use the USB, you may have to first delete all your existing games off of the hard drive. It gave me a message that there wasn't enough space on the USB stick to backup all my info, but when I un-selected my applications (which was taking up the majority of the space at 400GB), the screen did not refresh and would not allow me to backup only the selected data. You may have to first delete all your games and applications so the backup data totals less than 8GB (which should be fine since you'll be reinstalling everything on the new HDD). HOWEVER...IF YOU ARE A PLAYSTATION PLUS MEMBER- backup all your saved data to the cloud server instead to save a lot of time! My PS4 was estimating 12 hours for my info to transfer onto the flash drive! (And likely just as long to transfer back off). So instead, I backed everything up to my Playstation plus account cloud server which took less than 30 minutes. Easy.2) Once you assemble the PS4 with the new HDD installed, you need to press the HD switch and select the 3.5" drive or you'll get a message that the system hasn't detected any storage when you turn it back on!3) Once everything is assembled and installed correctly, you'll need to reload the PS4 system software onto the new hard drive. The USB stick provided did have software pre-installed. HOWEVER, my PS4 demanded I re-install it with version 5.01 system software (writing this in late 2017) which was not the version of software provided. So I went to the PlayStation website and downloaded the file: (Google "PS4 System Software Update" to obtain link)IMPORTANT: At the top of the screen is a link which reads "DOWNLOAD UPDATE." This is NOT the correct link for what you need to put on the flash drive. Instead, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and find a section titled "Perform a New Installation of the System Software." You'll find a "Download Now" button in this sub-section and THIS IS THE FILE YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD. Place the file on the USB drive per the instructions on the page, insert the flash drive into the PS4, and hold the power button for 7 seconds to start-up into "Safe Mode." From there, just follow the rest of the directions to get back up and running.Once that's all done, login to your PlayStation Plus account and download all your saved files, etc., and expect your PS4 to be downloading games and updates for most of the day if you have an extensive collection.

Great hardware took sometime time to get here but once it did only took with backing up and install and reinstall about 50 minutes I recommend to gamers who Collect a lot of games digital or disc as well as play and tired of the 500gb running out of room deleting your games just for another one. Also note seller is real fast to respond to any questions

First off this got to me before i was even informed it shipped! The sata has plenty of space and quite honestly my ps4 is somehow quieter and faster. The instructions are straightforward, took me about 10 minutes. While ur in the ps4, clear out that dust.... Flashdrive came with 4.50 firmware and installed very quickly. If you are a ps plus member, i just saved my gamesaves to the cloud, no fuss or mess that way. Very happy with this purchase

This was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen. Been thinking about it for awhile and the second I had the money I bought it.Hopefully 4TB will last me awhile but if not I can easily upgrade.Worked super fast. I didn't have the ability to back-up games so I had to reinstall everything but it didn't really take all that long.Also comes with the most recent PS Software Update which made installation even easier.Keep thinking about getting a PS4 pro but until I can upgrade the HDD at a decent price I more than likely will not.Very nice for those who aren't fans of having to delete games and reinstalling because you actually play them constantly.

I bought this and so far so good , I had a problem installing it but not because it came damaged or anything , actually gave me more space to get more games which is awesome. I definitely recommend it to someone who wants more space and if you see reviews saying it sucks don't fear to much , just install it the right way and there should be no problem. Worth every penny.

The back-up is taking forever. Others seem to report times of around 1 hour per GB, but I have been going on my 4.10GB back-up for 4 days and I'm only at 2.41GB completed (with a projected 41 hours remaining) and no way to use my console in the meanwhile. I contacted their customer service, and the only recommendation they could give me was to cancel the back-up, delete it from the flashdrive, and then try again and hope it works differently. I decided to ride out the 2 remaining days rather than risk repeating the 4 I've already sacrificed.In retrospect, my recommendation to everyone would be that, unless you have something you absolutely could never replace to obtain again, just proceed with the install without backing up your PS4 and then download everything fresh and just play the games over again to get back to where you were. A week of back-up timer is not worth it just to save my custom wrestlers on WWE 2K17.
