Take negative reviews with a grain of salt, this phone is fantastic!
I wish people would not slam a product and skew the ratings without doing their homework before buying. Since it appears that isn't going to happen, I have done the homework for you, and I will give you the exact references to verify for yourself. This will be a long review, and I hope it will encourage those who take the time to understand what they are buying to go ahead with this phone, because if used properly, it is amazing. I am far from a "techie", so I'm writing this in layman's terms everyone should be able to understand.First and foremost, THIS EXACT MODEL (SM-G920TZKAXAR) IS THE ONLY FACTORY CERTIFIED UNLOCKED GALAXY S6 WITH U.S. WARRANTY THAT SAMSUNG OFFERS! Don't believe it? Check Samsung's own website. In fact, this is the only factory certified unlocked Galaxy that Samsung offers at all in the US market, and only in the 32GB version, NO OTHER COLOR, NO OTHER SIZE MEMORY, NO OTHER ANYTHING. If you purchased ANY other model it is NOT Samsung certified unlocked, you will probably not be able to register it or have the warranty, no matter what the seller may claim! Amazon may "fulfill" other models, but they are being sold by a third party. Now, for the model #s, what they mean, and who they work with. Don't trust the descriptions provided by the 3rd party sellers. If it says "sold by _____ and fulfilled by Amazon" it's a 3rd party seller. Only if it says "Ships from and sold by Amazon" is it really sold by Amazon:This model I am reviewing will work on any carrier who utilizes GSM technology and towers. This means T-mobile, AT&T, and any other independent carrier piggybacking off these GSM towers. It will work with Straight Talk wireless, but you MUST purchase the GSM SIM card kit, NOT the CDMA version. If you purchase the right SIM card from Straight Talk, it will work fine, as they piggyback off all towers and the towers your phone will use just depends on which type phone and technology you have. This model will NOT work with Verizon or Sprint, they utilize CDMA technology and towers. I don't know why people are slamming this phone for this as it clearly states this in the description. Buyers need to check with the carrier they want to use (if not using one of the big 4) and find out which towers they will be utilizing before making a phone purchase. To do otherwise is irresponsible on the part of the buyer, and not the phone or the carrier's fault. Stop blaming them! The locked version of this model is optimized for use with T-mobile (hence the T after the SM-G920 in the model number). If you purchase a model that starts with SM-G920A, that phone is optimized for use with AT&T and is NOT a factory certified unlocked phone and will not have the US warranty. It will be sold by a 3rd party. If your phone model has a "V" after the 920 in the model, it is CDMA and optimized for use on Verizon. It will not have the US factory warranty and will be sold by a 3rd party. If your model has a "P" after the 920 it is CDMA and optimized for use on Sprint, no warranty, sold by 3rd party. US Cellular optimized phones will have an "R", no warranty, sold by 3rd party. With an "I" means international, never meant for US market, no warranty, sold by 3rd party. Get the idea??? Don't believe it? CHECK SAMSUNG'S WEBSITE!I for one did my homework, made sure I got a true certified factory unlocked phone with US warranty (sold by and fulfilled by Amazon), and knew which carrier I wanted to use. I personally wanted T-mobile as they have numerous no contract plans to choose from, excellent customer service and brick and mortar stores you can walk right into for help, so this was a perfect match. I purchased this phone along with the wireless charger, and bought the correct T-mobile SIM card. It all arrived in perfect condition, sealed package, clearly brand new and never opened.Rather than attempt to activate this phone myself or do it over the phone with a rep., I simply took everything right to my local T-mobile store and asked them to do it for me. The phone I was using was nearly 4 years old, an antiquated model and I wanted to port my old number, all my contacts, photos, etc., from my old phone to the new one. The SIM card from the old phone was also not compatible with this new one. They were completely different sizes. I was out the door in literally less than 10 minutes with a perfectly functioning phone and every single file, photo and bit of data I wanted to keep right there on the new phone (they transferred everything through cyberspace). They were only too happy to accomodate me, because after all, I will be on their network and paying for their service. They told me I didn't even need to have purchased the SIM card, they would have given it to me for free because, again, their network, their service, their revenue. Once activated, I had it registered on the Samsung website and warranty activated within 5 more minutes, right from my new phone while sitting in the car in the T-mobile parking lot. They would have probably even done that for me had I asked. Will every carrier do that for you? Probably not, that's why you should check with the carrier you want to use before doing the BYOP (bring your own phone) thing.I did everything right, and I have a flawlessly performing phone that will do things I could only previously imagine. The transition was not only painless, but downright pleasant. I could not be happier. Since activating the phone I have loaded Microsoft Office, Samsung Pay, Square Register and numerous other apps, and still flawless performance. You need to understand that when you want the most advanced technology and you want to use your phone to do all the "newest" things, there may be bugs from time to time. Most of the bugs are in the apps themselves, not just Samsung's apps, but everybody's apps. Just uninstall them already! Reinstall them when they become more stable. Sometimes when a brand new app does a huge update, your version may hang up. Uninstall it and reinstall the updated (fixed the bugs) version. It really is simple as that people.Does the phone come with some useless stuff? Sure it does, don't they all? Just go in and disable them. Don't know how? It would behoove you to download the user manual, free from Samsung. You will find all kinds of great things this phone will do within those pages. I've had this phone for several weeks and I'm still finding amazing things this phone will do.So.......Pros: Blazing fast processor, fabulous camera, good battery life if you take the time to optimize your settings. Crystal clear display, loads of features, lots of available accessories. Will run numerous apps at once with no detectable slow down. Connects to wi-fi flawlessly, both at home and when out using others. Stays connected, does not drop. Syncs flawlessly with other products. Wireless charger works like a dream, even though a protective case. No problems with fingerprint reader or touch screen, etc., etc., etc. There isn't enough time to list them all.Cons: I didn't buy it sooner. I could have been enjoying it earlier. As for the phone, none that I've seen yet.Finally...no, I do not work for either Samsung or T-mobile.

Does what I need it to do; rooting recommended
Bought it replace my very old Infuse phone that was having power problems. My Infuse was also bought from AT&T, so it was still running the version of Android (2.2) since carriers are horrible at providing OS updates. The model I got is the same model provided to T-Mobile customers. So if looking for technical support, or how to root for the phone, anything regarding the T-Mobile version applies to this phone.Since I have had the phone, I have drastically reduced my usage of my iPad since the phone performs well. I still prefer using the iPad for watching videos, mainly due to screen size, but the S6 handles videos quite well on its own. I no longer bring my iPad with me when I travel (one less thing to worry about). If I can get a decent wifi connection, I can use it to watch Netflix or HBO, and if there is a TV with Chromecast plugged in I can always cast to the TV.One advantage of getting an unlocked phone directly from manufacturer is it does not contain any carrier bloatware. However, it does contain Samsung's bloatware. I highly recommending rooting the phone, then use an app like Titanium to disable bloatware. I discovered that a facebook service was always running even though I never use facebook. This gave me the motivation to root the device. If you root, it will disable Knox. This may be a concern for some. I think there is way to root and still have Knox work, but I did not bother with it.I agree with others that the inability to easily remove/replace the battery is undesrable, but it is not a big enough negative for me. I purchased a portable power recharger so when I travel, I can always recharge if an outlet is not handy. I also run the phone in power saving mode most of the time. For most of things I normally do day-to-day, having full power is not needed. Disable unused services (since I rooted it) also helps in power consumption. The inability to plug in a microSD card is not a realt negative for me, but I can see it being for others. I do take photos and videos on occasion, but I just download to computer if getting low on memory. For those that may be heavy photo and video takes, get a version with more memory or consider a different device that supports SD cards. The quality of photos are quite good, but I do not get too critical over photos taken with a phone, especially when the device does not support optical zoom.

This phone model (SM-G920T) is NOT compatible with AT&T
Disclaimer: I have no issue with the phone features, etc. - mostly because I haven't been able to use it. This receives 3 stars because this phone is primarily designed for T-Mobile, NOT AT&T (and, yes, I understand that had I done even more research, maybe I would've seen this, but you'll notice Amazon currently is no longer selling this item due to customer complaints). The model is model: SM-G920T...the "T" in this case stands for T-Mobile. I discovered after purchasing 2 of these (one for my wife) that it's not compatible with AT&T. Without a super thorough understanding of the background tech, it looks like this model isn't compatible with all of the different AT&T bands. We've tried replacing the SIM card, we've been to the AT&T store two times and they can't get it to connect to 4G or their signal at all. My wife's phone does actually connect at times (mine wouldn't at all), but half the time she cannot receive calls and it's taken me up to 6(!) tries to get the phone to ring when I call her. Needless to say, we'll be returning these phones. The model # compatible with AT&T is SM-G920A (instead of "T").
