THE KINDLE SHOULD COME WITH A CHARGER LIKE THIS!!!!!
not all Kindles go where computers go - but with a power source (cafe, ranger station, etc) tend to have power, even in the middle of Nevada. Also not everyone HAS a comptuer -- I've heard more about the lack of a computer on site than lack of power -- and this solves the problem - my PERSONAL belief is that EVERY KINDLE NEEDS TO HAVE A WALL PLUG to go with it. I also got the car-jack charger and it works as well - come spring and summer I'll be spending DAYS away from power leading graduate students on up to 10 day 'transection' hikes in Nevada - you bet a kindle would not last me two weeks without power when I read myself to sleep each night - up to six hours an evening. So in addition to using my truck to charge up my lap-top and kindle before I leave, I also charge my solar charger that keeps me going when the closest power is a two to 4 hour hike away.

Simple and Reliable Belkin
Always appreciate Belkin products because they do exactly whatthey state, are well made and reliable. Got this as a charger tokeep on my desk at work. This simple device is about the same price as the charger forthe iPhone 5 from Apple, but decided to try it for my iPhone 5.I used my existing (2nd, not original) Lightening cable from Apple.Works fine with my iPhone 5 and is fairly small and compact,so good for traveling.I had a cheap charger I was using and on the iPhone 5, when pluggedin with this oddball charger, the touch screen would not always work, but resumed once unplugged. Very weird I thought...I did some digging and learned this is the case with some 3rd partychargers - because they don't output the right power. No suchissue with the Belkin, problem is gone.Comes in cute different colors, but I just got black.

Works just fine.
PROS:Sturdy plugcolor choicesCONS:List priceWhat can I say? Its a plug. It has not done me wrong in the three months I have owned it. It is nice that it comes in a bunch of different colors (for all of you fun people, for me I just bought black). It is also a little thicker and more sturdy feeling than the Apple one. There is not a lot more to say, except for the fact that it is a little bit of thievery for them to sell this on its own being that it is useless by itself. The list price for this is $19.99, and you need to buy the USB cord to go with (the Belkin version list price is $25, thank goodness for Amazon you can get it for $10). It just seems that for someone--or a lot of people--who is going to charge their phone, you should just supply all the parts they need in one package and not force people to buy them piece by piece.I say buy it if you need it, but do not forget the USB cord--I am pretty sure any one will do, don't feel the need to get the Belkin one to match.

Hey, it charges stuff.
Here's the thing: do I LOVE this product? No, but I can't justify giving it 4 stars, either. It's done nothing wrong to deserve having a star knocked off.It has the identical specs as the Apple USB charger. It charges my phone. No difference in performance or anything. The color selection is definitely nice but, though it's not a problem for me, the unit is certainly bulkier than the Apple charger. Not sure that would be a problem for anyone, but it's something to be aware of (how close are you plugging things in??).It's a few bucks cheaper than the Apple charger and it's still from a great, well-respected brand. For me, it's worth buying to save a few bucks and get the color you want.Recommended!

Doesn't Work
I pugged it into the car and attached the phone with a cord. It just made a loud beeping noise and proceeded to drain my battery, instead of charge it. I guess apple has a way of making sure knock off's don't work, or this is just a poor quality item. Don't know, don't care. Either way I wouldn't recommend this.

Economical, quality "iphone-a-like" charger
Apple had a good thing going when their wall chargers got smaller and more compact. If you lost one of those, this is basically as good of a replacement as you can get, like for like functionality, voltage and wattage, at an affordable price with some interesting addition of color. Of course this charger will also work for any device that accepts this most common standard output wattage and amperage. It works as a good replacement and being Belkin, I trust it. There is a lot of scary import stuff on here that I have had bad experiences with. The last thing I want is a fire because I chose an off brand import power adapter that I don't trust.

Works fine to power USB powered devices for AV receivers, small
A bit overpriced in my opinion. But does the jobs.I bought it to power a Yamaha Wi-Fi base for an AV receiver because Yamaha (and other stereo brands) were (still mostly are) too cheap to give you one or simply include it built in (most are now, except cheap models).Anyhow, the black color and small size helps it vanish from the power strip with all the other cords plugged in.I do not know how it is with a cell or iPod/iPad. I’d stick with Apple or brand of your phone or pad to be safe. Apple in particular is very well made on *the inside* of the charger. Worth the extra money. (Unlike some other Apple accessories which, are overpriced.)

Does the Job For Less Money Than the Alternative
I bought this to power a light pad that I purchased from Amazon. As supplied, it had a USB cable that was made to obtain the power for the light pad. As I wanted to use it in a place remote from my computer, I needed a power converter that pugs into the wall and has a USB output with sufficient current to meet the requirements of the light pad. The specifications for this met those criteria, and it was far less expensive than the converter from the light pad manufacturer that looks identical in the illustration in their ad.
