If your shoes have a removeable insole you could put the arch support under it therefore relieving any catching with sharp edges

Hi, I wear female size 38 (uk 5.5) and the medium (6-8) is perfect. I bought mine for over-pronation as I developed valgus knee. They are brilliant. They are rigid and hard wearing. I bought another pair so they can permanently be in two pairs of shoes.
