Not easy to introduce to children already using cups.
We have 2 granddaughters and at the time of the purchase a nearly there grandson. We had some spill issues at our Tree Decorating dinner and so purchased these cups in the hopes of avoiding the kid distress and adult panic when the flood of chocolate milk hits the Christmas linens. We introduced the older child styles to the 2 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old girls Christmas morning. Both were attracted by the color and style. The dots on the exterior are not raised as I initially stated. The narrow cylinder fits little hands. The older girl wanted the shorter of the 2 cups because of her predilection for red and was not pleased that appropriate height was the determining factor in distribution. Now for the bad news: neither girl could drink from the cups. Apparently there is a sucking kind of technique required which neither child was used to or interested in learning. Since the cups were introduced Christmas morning with all it's attendant excitement, distractions and (yes) stress they rejected instruction and just wanted to have their breakfast. The cups are useable without the lids but we're back to spillage issues the chances of which are now increased by the height of the cups. I imagine if introduced as the child's first cup or in a quieter moment the cups would be more easily accepted. If I find that they are effective at spill avoidance and easy for the kids to adapt to and handle I will update this review.

Good practice for a cup
So, a good friend of mine bought out the local ToysRus of these cups. I didn't know what the big deal was, but he informed me of the nice "side effect" of these cups: they teach the little ones how to take sips out of a cup. And, have since implemented this to my kids' routine...and it WORKS. I was first just happy to get rid of their nasty old sippy cups, but having switched over completely to these now, i've seen the difference when having them sip out of a regular cup. The seal on these is VERY good, and much easier to clean than a regular sippy cup with the little rubber insert. One negative is if your kid drops the sippy on the floor, it will "splatter" a bit, as the seal on these goes all the way around, and holds a little milk in it (in the ready to be sipped). That is so far, the only negative i have. Took my kids a while to get used to them, but once they did all the other sippy cups got tossed!

Great cup but a little leakage
We really do love these cups. Our son has been very interested in drinking out of our cups but never really got the hang of the hard spout sippy cups or the straws. I thought since he could sort of drink out of a regular cup with help that these would be a great fit. He definitely picked it up much faster. He still is more interested in playing with it and really doesn't drink a ton out of it (we only put water in them which could be the reason) but he definitely gets some out of it and he is so proud of himself when he does! They are also super easy to clean with no little pieces to worry about, just 3 pieces, no hole or valves or anything. The only downside is they are not entirely leak-proof but as long as you put it back together correctly it isn't too bad and it mostly leaks a little if it is thrown. I think it's worth it though. these are a winner in my book!

Good cups.
These cups are pretty good. My kids have no trouble drinking out of them and I like the idea that it helps them get used to drinking around the rim instead of using a spout. My only problem is that sometimes they cups do leak a little bit (a few drops)- especially when my kids have been rough with them. If I take the lid off and put it back on tightly it stops the leaking. It's worth it to me to teach them to drink from the rim.

Excellent Gift Set
We love these cups. This set is a great value. I gave it to a family with a six month old so they would grow into each size and have it when they were ready.Pro: Infant/Toddler learns to tip head and ultimately regulate the flow.Con: Can sometimes feel frustrated twisting top on. Worth it though.

I wish I knew about these sooner!!
I hadn't known about this product until I was at a party and saw my friends 1 year old using. I couldn't wait to get one for my son. He loves the feeling of using a 'big boy cup' and the independence that goes along with itThank you Sassy!!
