hello and thank you , what does the gauge at top of dial tell me ? i like the watch overall . my Longines was stolen in housebreak. i need new one.

The gauge on top is the power reserve indicator. Meaning that if the watch stays stagnant, it will indicate how many hours of power is left without movement.

Does this watch feature a hacking movement?

this is a automatic movement- so it will gain power from wearing it

Does anyone that purchased this watch (7060-4) know if it needs a battery? Product info says it does, but it's supposed to be automatic.

No, the watch does not need a battery. It's a purely automatic, self-winding watch. It's fun to find an automatic watch at this price point, and the dial is pretty. Watch out for accuracy, however (mine gained 1-2 minutes per week), and a soft crystal that scratches more easily than you might expect.
