Fender Sonoran SCE Thinline Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Solid Spruce Top, Preamp with Built-In Tuner?- Natural

I've owned my black Sonoran Thinline for 3 months now & these guitars offer exceptional value for money. I was looking for a reasonably priced, light weight guitar to replace the old one I was using for guitar teaching and I'm more than pleased with the Sonoran. I've been playing guitar for over 40 years and own a number of 'high end' guitars, so to find something that suited at budget level was a challenge. For a Fender guitar to come with a solid top & bone nut in this price bracket has to arouse most players interest. O.K... it's made in China, but don't let that put you off, the Sonoran really delivers! For a guitar only 3" thick the Thinline has a big sound acoustically, whether picked or strummed, you can play this guitar with others that are playing full size bodies and still be heard with no problem. This is probably due in part to a solid spruce top and the fact that dimensionally it's the same size as a dreadnought, only a lot thinner. The "C"-shaped, bolt-on Stratocaster neck allows a playing feel much closer to an electric guitar and if strung with extra light gauge strings will almost play like one in terms of string bends etc. However, don't put anything thinner than a 52 for the 6th E otherwise you may experience a lot of open string buzz. The fact that this guitar has a dual truss rod adjustment means that it is a dream to set up with a low, fret buzz free, action. Plugged in the Fishman Isys pickup system with on-board tuner provides a full, warm and rounded tone, or with a few tweaks, something loud, crisp and bright. Cosmetically, I wasn't overawed by the white tuning pegs, I think chrome or gold to match the pick-guard would have looked better. However, these could be easily changed, but actually now that I'm used to them I don't think I'll bother. A much more important point is how well the guitar holds it's tuning, whether it's been sat in the case for a couple of days, or played for a long period of time. If you are looking for a good all rounder guitar on a budget, then maybe the Sonoran Thinline is the one for you.

You expect the best from Fender and you definitely get it with this one, sounds great unplugged, and absolutely incredible plugged in! The bolt on Strat neck is killer! Looks great and plays fast and smooth. I wanted it mainly because of the shallow body, really comfortable to play, lot less bulky feeling than the deeper standard bodies. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone!

I love this guitar, sounded tinny at first, but it warms up after a week or so of playing and has a nice bright sound that is really soft on the ears

Love this guitar,was a bit dubious buying a guitar online but read the reviews and saw quite a few videos and other reviews on various other websites and decided to go for it.Surprisingly it did play straight out the box and was extremely well packaged no shaking about in transit would have ever damaged it the packaging was excellent.Lovely neck on it a Matt finish so sweaty palm not a problem on this action is ok as well and really nice tones from a guitar at this price and lovely finish.Pick up and tuner are really good as well sounds great through an amp.I'm really pleased with it a well deserved five stars.
