Excellent professional salon styling gel! I originally discovered this product @ULTA Beauty. The weight of this gel is perfect for my hair type and texture. This product doesn’t leave any tacky or sticky film, which is great because the gel dries perfectly! Most of all this is a high-quality hair product that is soft and holds. However the price varies between UTLA vs. Amazon. Most of all, Redken products are worth the effort.

This nonentities greatest hair products I have ever used. My hairdresser recommended it years ago, and I have used it ever since. Now it appears to be marketed to men, but that was not the case initially. I have fine hair and this gives it manageability without any weight. It is not sticky like some are. It only takes about a nickel to a quarter size and I distribute that in wet hair before blowing dry. I have bought it for my sister who has baby fine hair and it works well for her too.

I was using Redken Hardwear 16 for countless years and went nuts when it looked like they stopped making it. After some searching it seemed like this was the “replacement” with new packaging and updated graphic. In desperation, and with little hope, I bought it to try it. Hardwear was the absolute best product I had ever found for creating stiff hold when I needed it and giving shine that lasted. I didn’t think I’d ever find a replacement.First use of this eased my mind. It seems to be exactly the same as they “old” product. I had some of the original version left and compared the two - looked and felt exactly the same. Used it and was thrilled. I had no reason to think there was anything different except for the packaging.For a first time user I can offer that this is probably not for anything except a firm hold. It worked exceptionally well if you dampen your hands a bit, either work it in or smooth it on a particular area and then blow dry that area for a short time to get incredible shape that doesn’t look like it’s concrete. I haven’t experienced any residue when I shampoo my hair (and I use it frequently)…one shampoo and it’s gone.The second pic is to show how it thick it is. I’ve had far too many that say “super strong” and when I squirt them out of the bottle they just spread all over the place. This stuff is nice and thick. I love that about it - and to make it go further I started dampening my fingers or hands before working it in because the thickness can make it a little difficult to get the even coverage I want.Any one looking for the fabulous Redken Hardwear 16…. This gel works well. I used it for a long time until I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.Pros: It will hold your hair, and you can shape it however you'd like. It does well with less hair you have. I was very happy with my appearance when I used this product, and it's not hard to manage. It dries quickly and does not leave a mess.Cons: I had some frustrations with this product; sometimes, it would leave my hair hard and stringy-looking. You need to be careful with how much you put in and how you apply it. Other times, to avoid this hard/stringy look, I put less product in my hair. As a result, it would not last all day. Side note: I stay active throughout the day, so this likely affected its longevity.Overall, I was happy with this product. I purchased it three or more times, but I eventually grew out of it. For anyone looking for a gel to use, I would highly recommend this product!

I'm a long time user of Redken Rewind paste, but wanted to venture out and try something new. I tried using American Crew firm hold gel because of the affordability of such a large bottle and that I had seen the product before in hair salons, but it had no hold or control on my straight, thin, short hair. I took a chance on this gel, going with the prior reviews that it would hold up well, and I wasn't disappointed. I used a quarter sized amount, which was a lil too much in hindsight, and did a great job with styling, controlling, and holding my hair in place throughout the day. Also, I didn't notice any awkward or overpowering fragrance. Not to mention this tube has 1.8 more ounces than the Rewind for the same price, so I'm winning all the way around. I'll definitely be sticking with this for a while.

So, I have very fine hair and have been told by hairdressers to use mousse, which I have tried but not with success. I love this gel. I don't need a lot as my hair is so thin, but I can shape my hair, let the gel dry, and then brush it to shape it more. I don't use a hair dryer as my hair drys very quickly. You can also use the gel on wet or dry hair.

I bought my first tube from my hair dresser's salon. Love it! Easy to use. Cheaper on Amazon.

This product does help lift my hair but it is too thick and makes it more snarly and still looking.
