Does what is supposed to
I use (2) mics on my kick and need a hole for each, so this thing was my best option. It worked perfectly, just had to put some pressure on it to cut.

Easy to use and cut a perfect mic port hole.
I took the bass drum head off and laid it on a piece of cardboard, to back the cut. Placing the tool exactly where I wanted the port, I put pressure on the center piece and the cutting blade. The two little "pops" assured me the head had been properly pierced, so I moved the cutting blade around like I was using a compass. The resulting port hole was perfect. I love stuff that works!

Easy to use, but push hard
I have used this to cut a couple hold and have not really had any problems. I would like to see a device like this that can somehow make sure you are in the very center of the head (I like center bass drum holes). Also, push hard when you cut or you will only go through one ply.

Makes a circle
Did what it was supposed to do.

Quick and easy to use and gave a pro looking result
I was almost scared off by the negative reviews but went ahead and bought this anyway and couldn't be happier. The most important thing you need to realize is that you have to take the head off the drum and lay it down flat on some cardboard. I used the Amazon box that the cutter (and some other items) came in. If you try to use this cutter in some other way, you most likely will not get good results. The cardboard gives you a stable flat surface while also allowing the center pin and the cutter some backing material to dig into. Yes, it is annoying have to remove the head but worth it. Just remember that once you have the hole, you'll never need to take the head off again to adjust damping. It literally took only a few seconds to position the cutter and cut a perfect hole. The hole looks professionally done and has accomplished my primary goals -- ability to mic from the inside, easy access to tweak damping materials, and less rebound from the beater. More than worth the $10 for the cutter!

This thing is fantastic!!!
Ok, so first of all, if you have seen some negative reviews on this, ignore them! This piece works perfectly as long as you follow instructions. Clearly the negative reviews come from people who didn’t do it right. Here’s the key... press down in the middle where the tac is until you hear a small snap. Then press again at the top by the blade until you hear the snap again. That punctures the holes. Now, press firmly in the middle and on the blade side and turn. Takes 15 seconds to create the perfect hole. Also make sure to turn the head upside down so the flat part of the head is on a hard surface with either cardboard or thin carpet underneath. I also bought the Gibraltar hole reinforcement which is shown in my pic as the final result.

Must for hole cutting.
Very easy to use and helpful for when I cut my bass drum holes. I think this is a must to go along with your other drum tools. It just makes bass drum hole cutting simple and I like the fact that you can choose your diameter size.

Not really worth the money in my opinion
Never could get this thing to cut.. either the wheel isn't sharp enough or I'm not doing something right.. and I think its pretty self explanatory.. seems like I'm better off using a compass and an exact-o-knife..

Strumento indispensabile
In tanti usano sistemi fai da te, ma per la mia esperienza, nulla può sostituire un cutter del genere.

Worked very well
Used on a Gretsch logo head to accommodate a mic & worked really well. Need to ensure that your cut size & position are rehearsed on cardboard etc. & to place the head on a supporting surface such as cardboard etc. when cutting & press hard for initial puncture of head. Fitting the trim is a struggle as akin to fitting a bike tyre it loosens on one side when pressing the other. Online videos show screw drivers being tapped to snap it on but avoided that as any slip would puncture the head & be costly so used a rubber mallet to tap the opposite side whilst holding the side clipped in.
