Also, the LED life rating is when the light output is 70-80% of the original output (depending on the specification it is rated to). So it won't stop working in 16,000 hours, it will just be noticeably dimmer. Of course this ignores failures in the driving electronics that you risk with any electronic device.

Q: I have to sleep in a completely dark room. Can you disable the clock display while you sleep?

I turn the display down to the lowest level of brightness. On nights when that still isn't dark enough, I turn the clock to face the wall.

Q: Can the alarm noise be disabled? If I just want to wake up via the light, can I do that?

Yes, you can. My husband opened it up for me and snipped the speaker wire. I now use the light (across the room) and an alarm near my bed. It’s quite pleasant.

This model does not support radio or bird sounds. It only has a beep that gradually gets louder. The beeps progress to full loudness in about a minute.
