Yes a large serving , 190 lbs. 6ft11. More than enough.

Q: Why do these only have a 7 year shelf life?

I'm guessing it's because they are in mylar bags rather than something more stable/secure (like a metal can). We have had some for 10+ years that tasted just fine when we ate them recently. They had even been in extreme temperatures during that time (stored in the car for 72 hour kit)--summer temps 100° F + and winter temps below 10° F for months on end. I have kept ours in a small plastic tote to keep it clean and protected from tearing open. I can't speak to the food nutritional quality remaining all that time, but the taste/texture/appearance was just the same for me as the brand new packages we used at the same time.

Q: What is the inside lined with? I don’t like plastic

Most cans made from 1980 to present are coated with some type of plastic anyway.
