You should be able to paint right on the box without using any primer. This is constructed of unfinished pine wood. We suggest spraying with a clear spray fixative sealer to protect your project when you are finished painting and the paint has dried thoroughly.

Yes, it will fit up to 70mm= 7cm. But you will need to wrap the coin with paper or a nice piece of cloth. Otherwise the coin will be too loose inside of the box. The box is unfinished wood. It will better if you paint it or decorate it a bit if you are going to use it for a gift
