Inedible
Eww. I’m really not impressed with this marshmallow dip.I’ve been low-carbing for over five years, so my expectations for sugar-free products are well-informed and realistic. But this is just a little bit gross. It *looks* good. But when you first stick a spoon in it, the texture is more like gelatin than marshmallow cream. It doesn’t coat the spoon; it flops off. The flavor is only slightly sweet, but also a bit sour, and it leaves sort of a burning sensation on your tongue. It’s not quite like a spicy-food burning, though. More like an acidic burn, perhaps? It’s not overwhelming, but it’s there.Imagine taking soft, room-temperature, unflavored gelatin, sweetening it just a bit, adding some white paint, a dash of vinegar, and just a touch of vanilla room freshener, and you’ll get an idea of what to expect with this. Yeah. Eww.Unfortunately, it’s ineligible for return. The product page says you can get a refund or replacement (I definitely don’t want the latter!) if it arrives damaged or defective (and you can’t use the usual process; you’d have to contact customer service). Despite being in glass jars, it arrived undamaged, but does being gross count as “defective”? I suspect not. This is just how they intended it, but it’s certainly not to my liking. I should have known better. I’ve never tried a Walden Farms product that wasn’t gross. If you’ve tried other stuff by them and liked it, this might be to your liking. Otherwise, I’d give it a miss.

Mix it with other ingredients and it tastes great
Does the marshmallow dip have a strange sourness to it? Yeah, admittedly, it does. So, why am I giving five stars? Because it serves the purpose that I bought it for. I got it to make a reduced calorie vanilla protein icing. It's vanilla protein powder, Walden Farms marshmallow dip, and powdered allulose/monkfruit sweetener. Once you mix in other ingredients, the sourness goes away. If you try to do the same and still feel that you taste a bit of sourness, a tiny amount of baking soda will do the trick. And I mean tiny, like 1/8th of a teaspoon. I'm glad that products like this exist to help me cut out empty calories and make room for more nutrient-dense foods in my diet while keeping the weight off.

"Caramel Dip" is not an accurate description!
Well, folks, I’ve been on this weight loss journey, trying to make responsible choices while still satisfying my sweet tooth. Enter: Walden Farms Caramel Dip. I saw the words “low calorie” and “low fat” and my heart did a little happy dance. I could almost taste that apple-and-caramel combo I’ve been craving. 🍏🍯The day finally came, and I could barely wait to open the box. The color? Spot on! A+ for caramel looks! But the excitement stopped there. As soon as I tilted the jar, I realized I might’ve been duped. This “dip”—and I use that term VERY loosely—is about as thick as skim milk. 🥛 I thought, “Okay, maybe it’ll taste amazing,” and proceeded to dip my apple slice.Friends, I could not make it to the sink fast enough to spit it out. It tasted like a science experiment gone wrong—an unholy mix of what-the-heck and why-is-this-happening. The saccharine aftertaste lingered like a bad decision at 3am, and caramel? Nowhere to be found.I thought, "Maybe it's just me?" So, I offered some to my adult daughter (without a word of warning). She gave me a look that said, "What did I ever do to deserve this?" She immediately spit it into the sink too.The kicker? I ordered three different flavors. They all look like runny milk, and I’m honestly too scared to open the others. 😬 At this point, I’d rather fork over $4 for the real deal with 180 calories and just plan for it. Or maybe that’s the secret to weight loss with this product—you end up avoiding food altogether after trying it!Save yourself the $18. Your tastebuds and stomach will thank you. 😅

Amazing products 99% of the time. But not this time
Love 95% of Walden Farms condiments, sauces, etc. But, these are not great. Tastes very very off and not satisfying

Extremely sour & bitter. How can you get vanilla wrong?!?
I had high hopes for this marshmallow dip, but it was a huge disappointment in flavor and texture. First of all, when I opened it, it had been shipped on a hot summer day. So I thought the texture was thin and gelatinous like un-set jello because of the heat. Nope. That's just how it is. Even after refrigerating and shaking it vigorously, I would not say "smooth and creamy" describes this. I understand it's a "dip" and isn't supposed to compare to marshmallow fluff, but I was hoping for something in between like a thick sauce I could pour over my homemade keto ice cream. This is a bit too slimy and doesn't move like a dip or a sauce.I could have seen past the texture if the flavor was better. When it comes down to it, marshmallows basically taste like vanilla to me, and how can you possibly get vanilla flavor wrong? Somehow they managed. The intensely sour and bitter flavor doesn't even allow you to taste the sweetness you're expecting from this diet dessert topping. I've tried their chocolate, caramel, strawberry, blueberry, and pancake syrups as well. They all have the same sour and bitter flavor.Such a shame because I had high hopes for this brand that was recommended to me by my dietician. The glass bottle packaging and the nice graphics on the label, highlighting non-gmo and many other fine attributes I like to see in my processed food labels - all of it made me think this was going to be a game-changer that would get me through the halfway point of my weight loss journey. Sadly, I'll have to keep looking. I'd like to try their salad dressings to see if maybe something that's not intended as a dessert flavor will taste better, but all their stuff is so expensive, and at this point I don't want to throw good money after bad.
