How often do you change the filter?

Hello, if the surrounding environment is relatively clean, and the pet does not shed hair and does not drink much water, it can be replaced once a month. But if the filter is dirty, it needs to be changed

Does this shut off automatically if water is empty?

Our water pump does not have a water shortage pause function, but running it for several hours in a water-deficient state will not cause damage to the pump. We recommend promptly replenishing the water to prevent your pet from getting thirsty.

What are the dimensions of the filters?

I do not know. I have not tried to turn it off. I had a different water fountain and it had the little light in it too and I know it would not turn off.
