a good buy for such a rare size- measurements are intact
Why would anyone want such a long (14 inch) spatula? I do not know the answer for others who purchase it but for me the only reason for buying something that would barely fit the drawer is to use as curd cutter. I am a home cheese maker and I make cheese in 20 quart pots. One step of the protocol is to cut the coagulated milk ( after adding the enzyme and culture) in checkboard style. This item is perfect for the job. Reaches the bottom of the pot easily and thin and sharp enough (not as a knife of course) not to deform the edges of the curd slices...It is both durable and flexible, easy to hold and maneuver. Dishwasher safe with no darkening in the metal parts. I find it a little pricey but this size is not commonly found in local stores and it is decent quality so I am happy with the purchase.UPDATE: One reviewer commented about the measurements given on the website and said they were misleading. I measured it myself and website description which says the blade is 2X14 inch is correct. The handle is 1.2X5 inches making the total length 19 inches.

UPDATE - Good buy once you get the coating off.
UPDATE: After thoroughly cleaning the coating off these they have not shown any sign of rust. The coating apparently is what rusts or discolors to appear as rust. We have had these about 6 months and live in an area 3 miles from the ocean where metals rust easily, even in the conditioned space. I have revised my rating to a 5 as they work very well. These are NOT stainless. A day or so after the first time they were washed they showed signs of rust. I use a magnet in the machine shop to check if metal items are stainless. This is the traditional method of determination. Stainless should not be attracted to a magnet and these stuck to it like glue. Many people do not realize that some stainless alloys will rust but I am not aware of any rust resistant stainless alloy that has more than a very slight attraction to a magnet.. By listing a kitchen related item as stainless it is implied that it will not rust very easily. Do not purchase this item if you think it will not rust because it will. SEE UPDATE at top.

Good price, good size, great quality, and available...
These are just right for some uses in the kitchen, and also the potting shed, and the shop. I have been looking for a small stainless that is not Swiss quality...and price... for quite a while. Made in Japan.

Great product
Well made, comfortable and flexible. Sticker initially appears to be difficult to remove but easily comes off if immersed in very hot water for a minute or so leaving no residue.

We are cheesemakers and use this to cut curds in our bigger cheese vats- the blade itself is nice and thin
This is a HUGE spatula. Keep in mind that the 14" blade length does not include the handle. The actual length from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle is 19". We are cheesemakers and use this to cut curds in our bigger cheese vats- the blade itself is nice and thin, so it doesn't crush the curds while cutting, but is still sturdy enough that it doesn't flop around while you're trying to use it. The handle has a comfortable grip and the blade seems to be firmly attached to it. We've ran it through the dishwasher multiple times with no discoloration, etc. My only complaint was finding a place to store this sucker- it's too long to fit straight into most drawers, and too tall to fit into most utensil crocks!

Very good Straight Icing Spatula. Would be perfect with a bit more flex.
I am a highly experienced Home and Personal Chef. When cooking foods in a sautee pan, fry pan, or on a baking sheet, I much prefer using these narrow Icing Spatulas over the more popular wide spatulas. These give me much more precision control over the foods in the pan for moving and turning. Reduces splatter as well. This 8-inch model is very well-made and robust. The handle is made of some kind of hard plastic, but the same kind of material I like on my utensils and knives for control and non-slipping. The Stainless Steel construction is near perfect as well.My only wish, and it is of no consequence to the rating, was wishing this particular model had a bit more flex in the blade. The blade IS flexible, but I wished for a little more.NOTE: If you use this for cooking as I do vs just for icing, you should NEVER use this spatula in a non-stick pan without extreme caution. This will easily damage the Teflon or other non-stick coatings if not careful. (Don't ask me how I know this!! Sigh...)All in all, this is a near perfect straight spatula that will serve me well with the others I own and use. It's FIVE STARS for me and an honest and hearty recommendation. The price as offered on Amazon is a great value as well! Bon Appetit!*If you found my review helpful to you, please let Amazon know by clicking the "HELPFUL" button below!

Just As Described; Useful for DIY Cheese Making
This spatula was purchased by me for on specific purpose: cutting cheese curds while making cheese at home. Decent-sized batches frequently 3-4 gallons of milk resulting in curd masses that can be 10 inches deep or more, requiring a very long blade. These fit the bill very well; they're thin, stiff enough, and can withstand repeated sanitation (boiling water or chemical sanitizer) due to the stainless steel blade and molded polymer handle. The price was fair for a product of this sort.

The information on Amazon and on the blade states "stainless ...
The information on Amazon and on the blade states "stainless steel". For this reason I left it in the sink to soak with other dishes. When I took it out to wash it, I found that the blade had pitted in three different places. While stainless steel utensils and blades are resistant to most foods or chemicals in the home, it is subject to pitting under certain conditions. The conditions that most commonly cause pitting are long contact with chloride-containing foods such as salt, salad dressing etc. or soaking in water. I bought this to dig into the jar of jelly, sandwich spreads, etc., and to spread butter. All of which this utensil does well. Just don't leave it in water for an extended period of time.
