Outstanding durability
We bought this item for our half golden retriever, half border collie exactly 5 months ago. He still plays extensively with this toy for exactly 5 months now, we take him to the water at least 2-3 times a week and it is by far his favorite toy.In 5 months of continuous use it is finally starting to show some wear with some thinning of the canvas up around the throwing loop. Also a couple months ago we made the mistake of allowing him to use it as a chew toy on a long trip, in the process he broke the threads holding the bottom together (that was our fault, it's not a chew toy). Fortunately I was able to take a large needle and some fishing monofilament and sewed it back closed, been using it just fine ever since. We bought it in May and it's October now, we will probably keep using this one for the rest of this year and order him a new one next year, but wouldn't be surrprised if he just ends up having an old one and a new one but both usable. Kinda like our Kong Silicone Frisbie which is also an excellent toy.UPDATE October 14: Went ahead and oredered a new one, but we are going to put it away until the other one completely falls apart. Funny story, we were going to put it away in closet until we gave it to him, probably around Christmas. As it turns out, we left it sitting on the coffee table right after receiving Amazon package. He comes in from outside, sees it sitting on the table and immediately grabs it and gets ready to head for the lake. Had to take it away from him and put it up. Needless to say he was kinda bummed.

unsafe for dogs DO NOT BUY
DO NOT BUY My dog was using it for training the first day we had it and the material ripped very easily… come to find out it’s filled with tiny plastic beads which should NOT be inside a dog toy, training or otherwise!!

Pretty good but lightweight
Harley likes this toy but it’s not her favorite. It’s too lightweight and I can’t throw it far enough to satisfy her. She seems to prefer her toys a little heavier when she carries it back.It is well made of durable materials and seems like it would last…

Great Motivational Tool for Training
I train dogs for a living and I've found this tool to be very useful with retrievers and other sporting dogs. A lot of times, these breeds won't respond to food or praise like others do. This tool can be perceived as a high value reward for a dog you're training for obedience or retrieval, I mainly use it for the latter. The build quality is what you would expect from Carhartt: nice thick canvas, strong stitching and everything is symmetrical and not some irregular crap. I'm sure the dogs will eventually get through the canvas, but I would definitely buy again at this price.

Not durable
I have a 4 month old lab. Spend an hour retrieving it per day, loved the visibility. After a week the seams started to give out and little pebbles started to leak out all over the house and the yard. With there was more precaution within to stop the leaks

No luck against the English bulldog
I have an English Bulldog named Lex and she is 3 years old and I’m sorry to say 30 minutes into receiving her new toy she demolished it. Lex is 1-0 against Carhartt Pet Toys, Training Fetch and Chew. Sorry Carhartt

Perfect for fetching
It’s my dog’s favorite toy! Had it for 6 months and still intact. But it’s not a toy that I let him play with by himself. When we are done playing fetch I save it up. Made out of Good material.
