Brand New, Neck-stamped "DOT" certified, with Star☆, and Plus+
40 cubic foot steel cylinder. Brand new, with band new CGA 580 (inert gas) valve.DOT certified, for transport in commerce in this USA.Came with, added Plus "+" and Star "☆" stamps on neck, meaning this cylinder is rated strong enough for 10% over pressure fills, and can go 10-years (not just 5-years) between hydrostatic recertification tests.NO COMPLAINTS from my cylinder gas vendor. This cylinder was perfectly satisfactory for them to fill.Airgas (my local cylinder gas supplier) wanted over $400 for customer purchase of one of their 60 cubic foot exchange-able "Owner Cylinders"! So, ... IF, ..... they were selling these smaller 40's, they would still be way more costly than the $100 (+$35 shipping) I bought this one for!Prompt, FedEx 4-5 day delivery from the Midwest to Las Vegas. Shipped the next day after I'd placed my orderAfter getting this cylinder filled, I leak tested it in a bucket of water. NO LEAKS! Not through the valve, and not past the threads, where the valve is screwed into the tank. The only issue is that my cylinder gas vendor does not deal in exchange NITROGEN cylinders any smaller than 60 cubic feet. So, when this 40 is empty, I'll have to make two trips to Airgas;one to drop it off and thena return trip a few days later, once they've batch filled it with other empties they've accumulated. But for AC line set pressure testing, .... a steel 40 is about as big as I want to pack around!A 60 cuft cylinder would bee TOO BIG and TOO HEAVY !Prospective buyers might want to check with THEIR cylinder gas vendor, to see what sizes of "owner cylinders" THEY are willing to swap straight-across. As this might avoid that double trip requirement for a custom fill on a small tank. It just depends on HOW BIG a tank YOU want to deal with.I also checked on Craigslist, to see if I could buy an inert gas cylinder from some private party, and then swap it out for a filled nitrogen cylinder of the same, or smaller size. NO LUCK! Private sales of used cylinders of this size, or larger, stared at "$100". So, no luck in picking up a cheap high pressure inert gas cylinder !!

It's a tank!
This tank is exactly what you expect. I read some other had issues with Airgas or whomever not accepting it due to no DOT cert, but mine had that stamp, and they accepted it no problem. Now my brand new tank is gone somewhere, and it has been exchanged with a beat-up old tank filled with nitrogen. So I never really cared about the quality.
