This is the closest you will find to genuine Subaru motor oil. If you are one of those people that wants to use genuine Subaru motor oil, but don't want to spend $20 per quart at the dealership, this is an alternative as it is made by Idemitsu, the company that makes Subaru's genuine motor oil. I cannot tell if this is the same exact oil or if there are any unique additives added to the Subaru formula, but all industry experts would agree this is the closest you can get to the real thing. How important is that? Well that's a decision you'll need to make for yourself. I've heard many arguments in both direction and know many people who prefer Mobil-1 to Subaru's oil. My main issue with this Idemitsu oil is the price. It's pretty much just as expensive as genuine Subaru motor oil so what's the point? Either get the genuine thing or save $ and use a reputable quality oil.
