Review of IYV IMM-300SB Bass, sold by Amazon
This IM-300SB arrived in the midst of our sub-freezing winter, so had to acclimate to room temperature. This carton is an improvement, seems thicker than past IYV cartons and was able to resist gouging, only a couple of minor punctures were noted on the side, which thankfully didn't punch all the way through. A double-thick square of cardboard was placed under the the body, and multiple thick styrofoam inserts kept the bass from shifting. Upon opening the carton, there was a strong odor of undetermined origin, and while not pleasing, it wasn't terribly obnoxious, possibly outgassing from the styrofoam. This bass had been shown to be temporarily out of stock, so was very pleased it arrived so quickly. After removal from the box and inner cloak or soft bag, it was that moment everyone wants to witness, one best described as when you remember that you just can't stop staring at someone, or something. Not every guitar from every company arrives in such good condition, so it's a pleasure to see and feel when it happens. 'Pristine' and 'stunning' are the highest appearance marks I've given new instruments and this bass fits both. There are no visible defects-anywhere, and no dust-anywhere. The wood grain and the colors show clearly through the gloss, so I wondered, how long ago did IYV's QC inspector handle the bass, then wiped it down before shipment. The neck is perfect, with no truss rod or bridge adjustments needed. After tuning the intonation is so far, spot on. This neck on this feels like my 1974 Epi acoustic-electric bass (one of very few still-surviving Epi bass models of that period which were in Japan). The bass feels, plays and sounds great, as as such, deserves a 'highly recommended' status; just grab one while you can.

Excellent Value
For the price paid it is excellent. No cosmetic or other details. Bridge is heavier than most in the price range and it features a bone luck nut. Set up was easy and it took well to lowered string height. Intonation good. Electronics worked as expected. Unlike the photo mine came with dot markers on the fret board which is a plus. Tone is good although the pickups are what is to be expected at this price point. Neck is more like a P bass so smaller hands might be challenged at frets near the nut. Overall, wonderful bass.

Absolutely Incredible and Unreal
All I can say is I can’t believe this guitar is only $180. I am not kidding this guitar is so well built and quality through and through. From the electronics to the pickups to the wood and finish. It plays incredibly well and sounds amazing. It rumbles just as hard as my music man. If you get a chance to get one of these please do t pass it up, you will not regret it. This bass is just as quality as a music man and I am not kidding. Do yourself a favor and cop one when you have a chance. Whenever they come available again I will buy one of each style they have.

Simply great !!
As delivered: Neck fret work is perfect. Bass was still in tune and intonated right when it arrived. String height is perfect. No flaws on paint or back of neck. Pickups sound hearty and full. This bass easily completes with any $400 to $500 bass by the big names. I have a few other IYV instruments and every one is top notch.

Surprising quality for a low priced Bass
All good except for tuners which had a little stiffness (just 1 ). Sounds decent. Had to lower bridge a bit, but overall a very decent Bass. I replaced tuners as an upgrade, because one of them was difficult to zero in accurately.

Great Bass!!
Saw a you tube video with a guy raving about this bass, thought I’d try it out, he was right! The thing look great, I like the sunburst finish and the black fingerboard, I know the fingerboard is engineered wood but it don’t seem to hurt the tone. And about the tone, it’s just what a bass should be, depth, with clarity, no dead spots, every note rings true and has great sustain.Intonation was nearly spot on, with plenty of adjustment range left either way, tells me the bridge was put on correctly. There were a couple issues, the right side height adjustment screw on the bridge pickup was stripped, couldn’t turn it, finally got it out, but no replacement. The action was very high, so much so that I had to put a 2mm piece of maple veneer to shim it up, but it’s fine now, about 2mm at the 12th fret with about .015” next relief, not bad at all for an inexpensive instrument.Very happy overall with my purchase

Beautiful, well sounding firewood
First the good things: Bass is beautiful. Great balance, comfortable, and sounds VERY good... Surprisingly good for that cost. Of course it is too good to be true. The neck was bent in TWO locations had a dip and a bump, giving it HORRENDOUS buzz regardless on how high I set action and how much relief I gave it. Waste of money and time.

quality
definitely a high quality "budget" guitar. I have been shopping and trying guitars from some of these newer companies trying to carve out a piece of the market. . some of them are putting a lot of effort into it. ivy or iyv generally has good reviews so i was confident in purchasing . this bass is great and i got the same hype being surprised by it as the one guy with glasses who reviewed it on youtube. the other youtube review i saw was definitely favorable. expect to have to set it up and to find little things (really little things) you would not expect to find on a 1000+ guitar . the quality and care is definitely noticeable in this bass, though. it's an athletic bass and a great little music man /fender clone . i already changed the tuners with fender clovers , by the way.
