Everything is relative…including your cousin (?)…
I bought one 3 +/- years ago. Have used it a half dozen times. Just recently used it to check/inflate my Tundra tires. I like the ability to set target PSI and tend to other stuff - and have it shutoff when it reaches the target.2 comments….1) It is useless unless it is charged up (obviously). It seems to take a loooong time to recharge completely. Main thing is that you check it every few weeks to make certain it is charged up. (In most cases, I think it will be but if it is left sitting in a cold trunk in a cold part of the country, do not expect it to air up a low tire or boost your battery.2) I bought this ‘heavier’ unit so I would have a jumper source in the middle of almost-nowhere in rural Texas/Oklahoma. The one time I needed it, it gave a couple of turns on my 5.7 liter V8. I think there were other problems with the electrical system so it was hauled to a dealership that.replaced the relatively new battery and the 100,000 mile alternator. All of this to say that it still is working although perhaps aging. My son’s “yellow” top brand recharger pack lasted about a year.

I love this booster box
Let me start by saying this is the third Schumacher booster box with built in air compressor (and power sockets) that I've bought. In my job I've often needed to start cars with dead batteries, and to air up flat or deflated tires on those cars or on my own. The first one I bought (definitely a different model, but very much like this one) was supposed to satisfy that need - and it did it's job wonderfully. My only complaints were: if it was hot outside (and I live in Texas - so it's nearly always hot outside) then the air compressor would need 'cool off' periods during big jobs. And, the faceplate sticker that covers the buttons on the front started to peel on one corner. Other than those things - it was perfect. But, after about 1.5 years of use, I left it balancing on a high surface and it fell. I was crushed, and so was it. So I had to buy another one.The second one was every bit as good as the first (though the faceplate sticker still wanted to flake up and curl on one corner). And, I left it in my car one night with the doors unlocked (the night before Christmas Eve) and it was stolen. Again, I was devastated. But, by that time, my job had changed somewhat and I wasn't working with the cars as often, and it seemed like I couldn't find this style of Schumacher booster boxes. (The first two were bought through Walmart - and they seemed to suddenly stop carrying good quality booster boxes.)Anyway, time went on and I recently found myself needed to be prepared to start cars and air tires, so when Walmart failed me (again) I went to Amazon and found this little gem. If anything it seems to be even better than the first two! I've only aired tires on one of our rare cold days - and it has given me no problems at all - and the faceplate sticker seems to be re-designed and is better fastened over the buttons and isn't peeling or curling at all!(I haven't used the light at all, though. It looks cool, but until I take it camping I just won't know how good it is.)

Works Great But is Very Heavy UPDATE
Update APRIL 2021: I contacted Schumacher about replacing the hose due to having a hole and not being able to use the compressor and am really disappointed to learn that once the hose goes bad, the compressor can no longer be used and I’d need to purchase a new unit. They also advised me that they won’t even service this because it’s outside of the warranty period. I will not be purchasing another Schumacher product. I’ve used this a handful of times and the compressor is worthless. This is a known issue. I read many reviews on other sites including Schumacher’s and many have posted the same issue with the hose. BUYER BEWAREUPDATE MARCH 19, 2021:I haven’t been driving as much because of Covid. My daughter is homeschooling and I work from home. I’ve been using this product to occasionally jump my car. This week I went to drive my car and had a low air warning come on. I though “no big deal!” I would just use the air compressor feature and put some air in my tire. This was the first time using the air compressor hose. I should have checked EVERYTHING on this product when I first purchased it because the hose has a hole in it and now I’m stuck with a flat tire! The hole is big enough so that it will not fill up my tire. I’m really disappointed that this came to me with a hole in the hose. I’ve only used the battery jump function but will be testing every feature. I’m going to contact the manufacturer to see if they will send me a replacement hose. Test yours before you end up stranded.I purchased this because I went to drive my car the other day after not driving for a month due to having surgery and my battery was dead. Everyone I called was “busy.” I didn’t want to call my emergency road service because they only offer 1 courtesy jump per year. The rest I have to pay for. This worked perfectly. The only thing I didn’t like is that it took 24 hours to charge. So I wasn’t able to just get it out the box and jump my car. Also, it’s REALLY heavy. I had surgery on my shoulder and it was really hard for me to carry this with one arm. The box says it’s 22lbs. I wish it were lighter. I’m going to leave this in my car and only take it out when it needs charging.
