This nut is not as thick as the original, but at least it is not steel and will not rust (as the original did). It is made of aluminum; it fit the blade threads; it fits the blender container and it works perfectly.

The Blendin Replacement did not work for my Vitamixer and loosened up and the liquid spilled out over the kitchen. What a mess!

I have had my Vitamix for about 12 years. I was under the impression that I was not supposed to take apart the Vitamix ever and I am not sure why. What I realize now is that if you don't take apart the base periodically, I don't see how you can avoid the thing rusting and falling apart. I thought I needed to buy a new container, but bumped into this replacement nut. There is an official Vitamix nut sold on Amazon, but it's twice the price AND it is made out of the steel just like the one that rusted. This one is made from Aluminum. I felt it might hold up better.There are instructions to remove the nut online without ending the Vitamix tool they sell for the purpose. You just need a screwdriver. Google it so you can see how they do this. It's not what you think in terms of using a screwdriver. I took the blade assembly out and cleaned it thoroughly and sharpened it with an electric knife sharpener. I couldn't believe how dull those blades were! I will definitely be taking them out a few times a year to sharpen from now on.I washed the container with hot soapy water and then let it soak in some Oxyclean and hot water to remove stains and then let it dry out completely (overnight). It looks so much better than it did. I put the blade assembly back in and replaced the nut on the back with this new one, which was super easy and the whole thing is like new for the most part. No leaks, no funky noises, no problems. It just works. A new container was over $100. A new Vitamix nut was about $30. I bought this for $14. Feeling good about that.The first two pics are of the old rusty nut. The last two show the new nut on my VM.

This was a great cost saving part for me. I did not know that my Vitamix was not dishwasher safe, so the base became rusted. This inexpensive part worked just fine, and I am glad I bought it.

Gasket is not as good as the original part

fits perfectly , exact replacement but low profile , makes no different to the blender! half of the price of the factory part ! very satisfied!
