Q: I wear a size 10-1/2 shoe what size surgery shoe would I wear?

You'll need to get the men's size medium. The woman's large is too short and the edge is firmer rubber so your big toe will hit when you're walking. The men's medium is a bit wider, especially in the heel. A good thick sock takes care of that. Very good shoe and comfortable.

Q: Isn't there something for the foot/shoe that isn't in a boot--to equalize the length of the legs?

I highly recommend the "Even Up" device sold here on Amazon. It is truly a miracle product, and does just as its name states, it "evens you" up! We even keep a spare on hand, for future injuries. All who see it are awestruck! These should be recommended for every foot injury, every boot cast, etc. This BraceAbility Shoe (this listing) has worked wonders as the next step, after using the boot and Even Up. Thankful that such incredible devices are available on Amazon!

It has a rigid sole ,my orthopedic doctor recommended these after my wearing of the big boot for about 3 months.These shoes give you some support ,this is why they are called convertor shoes , as you convert from a boot to these shoes ( I wore these for about 8 weeks) as I had a big problem with swelling. I have recently started wearing my regular shoes, those with a good support sole,etc. Hope this helps
